That is a cracking car to be fair - I love it. Interior is great with that contrast piping etc. Good luck striking a deal.

Thanks, yes it does look nice.
He's still got the original sat nav unit for it too which is nice :)

I’ve carried out a very satisfying DIY to the standard E90 BMW Diamant Black dash trim. It needed a lot of patience and 2K - 2 pack clear lacquer.

I opted for a silver roundel (not gold) to be a little different, purchased from an on-line graphics specialist who was already advertising Alpina bits on eBay.

The results are pretty similar to the Alpina Piano Black trim at a fraction of the cost.

To achieve the flat finish over the decal it needed around 8 coats of lacquer, so the harder 2K product is a must, key with 800 grit wet and dry, panel wipe, apply the decal, 2 coats of lacquer, wait an hour at least, then very wet 2000/2500 grit wet and dry flatting off especially around the decal between every 2 coats, rubbing compound, finally fine polishing compound (I used Meguiars Ultimate).

I’ll not pretend it took a lot of trial and error and a lot of elbow grease to get the finish just right.

That looks nice John. Different enough from the original but not an obvious fake.

Thanks chaps. I didn’t honestly know that the F30 B3/D3 has the silver roundel on the Piano Black too, slightly different. As far as I’m aware it was only ever in gold for the E90 B3/D3.
