E65 B7 charge air controller

Post by Kyle B » Mon Jun 13, 2022 2:19 am

Hi from the US. Car is an 08 B7, today scanning the car with INPA i see three codes for the charge air controller. This is basically the secondary throttle body that has plastic gears that wear out. you can either buy a new one from BMW (1300.00 apparently) or change the plastic gears out. I've seen sets on ebay, has anyone here successfully repaired the charge air controller using these aftermarket gear sets? thanks for any input.

Good Morning, I wished I could tell you, but sorry I cannot. There were only 11 x E65 B7 for the UK and I am not sure all 11 still exist. The point being they are far less common than in the USA. Narrow that down to owners who have actually done any technical work on their B7 and then to anyone who knows the answer, its going to be a strong possibility that no one knows.

However, there are many technical experts around, so will be interested in any answer to this question.

Thanks for the reply, I know there aren't many in the UK. How many B5s with the H1 motor are there out there? We didn't get it here in the US, only the B7 and only 803 were brought into north america for 2007-08.

I actually came across a thread on another forum. I ordered the gear set, it's supposed to be here in a couple of weeks. I'll keep this thread updated, if I'm successful it might help anyone with an H1 powered car save some money.

547 with H1 and 179 with H1/2.

OK great, good to know that there's a good handful of H1 drivers out there on your side of the pond.
