D3 BT front suspension
Hi I've just replaced all the discs and pads on my D3 with MTEC drilled and grooved rotors etc at a cost of £266. Basically the D3 BT has 330D brakes on the E92 . Mine is #N0147
Whilst i had the front of the car in bits i noted what looks like a leak from the front strut hence does any one know what was fitted by Alpina. It would appear to be a bmw gas shock absorber - 22-135049 left and 135032 right supplied by Bilstien. I've found a replacement part for £118 / side from Auto Doc which seems reasonable compared to other suppliers

Further to having a read up does any one know what the BMW part is. The Alpina part number is 31 31 6 785 589 and 590
Thanks

Re: D3 BT front suspension
ALPINA Part Nos are only 7-digits, if it's an 11-digit number its a standard BMW part (although it may not be from the donor model).
Those part numbers appear to be standard 320d Coupe struts.

Hi Bob, thanks for the reply, the 31316785589 was taken directly from the Alpina D3 BT parts list that available to download via this site.
Any idea where i should be looking to buy these dampers from.
Thanks

Re: D3 BT front suspension
As it's a standard BMW part, you should be able to source from any normal part supplier (Autodoc, ECP, etc)
RealOEM lists those part numbers for a pre-LCI E92 320d as well as most other models.

Hi Ali
Many thanks for getting in touch. i managed to get 2 new Bilstein B4 spec dampers which i'm told are what was on the car when it left the factory.
I ordered them via the "autodoc" app for £247 c/w new bump stops and gaitors and there due for delivery this week and then the car can go for its MOT if i'm still able to afford a tank full of fuel.
Thanks again,
RossCo

Hi
I’m about to replace the front struts on my E90 D3 BT with Bilstein B4s and new Alpina top mounts as preventative maintenance. Springs are not being changed. Just wondered if you noticed any change in the ride height? After putting on the B4s?
Many thanks
Chris
