Air filter change F31 D3

Post by funkymonkey9876 » Thu Jul 08, 2021 10:51 am

Hi guys,

I’d like to change the filter on my car as I don’t believe the BMW should really leave it as long as it does.

Does anyone know if this is an easy job and where is the best place to get a replacement?

Thanks

YouTube is your friend for standard jobs like this if you want to do them yourself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zXQhzqKiHQ

Very easy job, just be gentle with clips and connectors and don't let any muck get in the housing when you remove the old filter and before you put the new one in.

Personally I'd buy an OEM filter from a BMW dealer parts department either in person or mail order if not local to one as I don't like using non-genuine parts. Plenty of other options though.

For my daily car (a standard BMW) I just get the dealer to do all work these days as you can request it is done more often (I just had this with an oil change on my 6 series) but if you enjoy doing things yourself or want to save the labour then an air filter replacement is about as easy a job there is.

Hope that helps.

So that is definitely not an equivalent D3 engine. The air box is recessed at the back at the right hand side of the engine. It’s not the same as a 330d but is the same as the 335d.

The below link is helpful if anyone needs it for the future.

Thanks for the reply though.

Ah, I'm not familiar with that specific engine but glad some help at least and you're all sorted.
