Hi John,

Happy to provide further guidance if needed. You're right, the worst part was cleaning everything up before re-assembling the sill trims. Peeling back all of the old adhesive left me with very sore thumbs, but I felt it was pretty much the only way to do it that had a chance of avoiding any damage.

Here's a picture of the drivers door sill strip that I've just taken, to give you an idea of how good a match for the OEM part I managed to get with the eBay strip.

Following on from Derek's post I ordered one of the items he highlighted and it did indeed arrive with a very dodgy inverter that I couldn't get to power the tape at all, however after searching for a similar product I came across the same product that I'd been discussing with Light Tape UK but at a far more attractive price here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233203448777 ... 2702489169. I ordered a strip in blue and white given the cost as well as a single inverter which is a much more robust product and now I've tested the tape it seems promising but doesn't seem to give any great output in daylight.

Here are 3 photos taken in my open boot in the garage with the boot light switched off:

As I'm not a V8s owner I don't need to stick to blue so might go white or orange to match BMW interior lighting, probably not gonna get much further at this time but thought this might be useful if any of you V8s owners are still watching :)

Thanks Barry for progressing this as I am still interested. Looks like a good summer project.
