Been reading the 540 manual that came with my B10 V8...
It says that the gearbox should go into sport mode when you move the stick left and into manual mode when you do the first manual shift.
Mine goes straight into manual - ALPINA or problem?
Box seems fine otherwise.

This is normal for the ALPINA auto box. The auto mode is not adaptive and more sporty than the standard auto, and no sport mode.
