D3 2014 F - lsd, options chosen at factory

Post by laldy875 » Sun Jan 10, 2021 1:46 pm

Hi,

Wonder if anyone could help, I am looking for a 2014 D3 and I was wondering if there was anyway to check if a car had an LSD fitted?
Is it a case of getting the Vin number and entering into a database somewhere?

Also does anyone have a link to the original sales broschure that would be great

I used to own a 2006 Alpina D3 monoturbo

Thanks,
Tom

The F3x cars with an LSD are quite a rarity to be honest, but there have been a couple about. The Green F31 currently for sale has one and another member was selling an F30 in grey with one, but not sure if he’s sold it now.

To check you’ll need the original BMW base car VIN and then run a VIN Decoder to show if its got one or not.

That’s interesting Bob as I thought the Alpina LSD was a Drexler so different to what BMW fit, so would it appear under BMW VIN?
I thought it would be Alpina specific spec so maybe not appearing under spec?? Am I wrong?

The F3x price list doesn’t show the LSD as Drexler, whereas the E9x one did, so I was ‘assuming’ it wasn’t. I don’t know the BMW VIN for any F3x cars so I can’t check that theory though. 😕

It was my old F30 that has the Drexler LSD.

The LSD is factory option number 209. At least, that's the option number on the build sheet for the car.

Cheers,
Matt

or if you can view the car, on a ramp look for the tell tale label:

ALPINA VIN is no good for the Vin decoders, you need the BMW VIN starting WBA*****.

With the ALPINA one you may be able to talk nicely to Sytner and get a spec list but they seem to be less obliging these days apparently.
