Revisiting Alpinas

Post by G20 LPG » Sat Nov 10, 2018 9:22 pm

After my last B10 3.3 caught fire and was written off I've had a few cats since. Currently own an 840ci and a Porsche 944 S2 convertible.

Both cracking cars in their own rights but keep getting drawn back to looking at Alpinas.

Do the B3 3.3 Coupes ever come up for sale with a manual box? I'm considering one of these if any about or an E46 M3

Thoughts please?

Sadly no manual option on RHD B3 E46 in any variant
B10 3.3 was available with a spurtle though

My one Alpina B10 was manual the other was switchtronic.

My 840 is auto and the 944 manual

I think manual is my preferred gearbox

I guess an e46 m3 could be on the cards in that case

you can get LHD B3's in manual from factory and they sold loads in every bodyshape, but as far as i'm aware my e46 B3 is the only RHD manual car known - its great!

A manual conversion is a relatively straight forward procedure and as Simon states, its great and well worth doing!

I have converted a couple of E39's, an E34, a few E46s (including Simons) and lost count of the E30's and is one of my favoured conversions.

Came close to doing my old B3 3.3 saloon as well but ended up breaking it and putting the engine in an E30 (with manual box!)

If i ever buy another E46 Alpina it will be getting a manual box and its a shame Sytner (or Buchloe) decided it was not to be for the UK RHD market.
