James, yes the e36 is a good track car, although in std form the suspension is a bit soft, but no experience of how different the alpina settings would differ.

I would buy a bucket seat, I have a set of alloy mounts that use the existing seat floor bolts, from born2drift, I bought them in case we didn’t get the e30 sorted and I could throw in a seat and take the m3.

A cheap e36 or compact would be ideal as you will have interchangeable parts.

Love a mk3. Always fancied doing something similar but with amateur rallying. Never happened, though :(
Here are my two MK3s from the '80s. First was a 1983 XR3i which was then replaced by the RS Turbo custom. Happy days, long gone :(

Thanks for sharing!
Yes i've always preferred the sharper angles of the Mk3 compared to what came after. My Mk3 started life as an XR3i and is also 1983- almost 40! (scary to think that)
Also pleased to see the other focal point in the pic with the series one- a Sierra wagon!!!
Was that your daily?

The Sierra estate was my company car; 1.8L. 90bhp of pure pinto! Great car but the carburettor had a habit of falling off on the M40, so it would run a bit lumpy at times :D
