I ordered a factory build B3 touring with a lot of options in November from Nottingham, after Gary Lott brought the tanzanite demo up to Lancashire for me to try - what a car! I then saw this B5 touring on the approved used site early December. Gary kindly gave me the option to swap but was unsure about the colour - went down to see it and loved it straightaway - it looks very different depending on light conditions but always looks blue on the dull days which predominate up north!
I have had 3 carbon black BMW and an azurite black F10 M5 which all look great in bright sunshine (esp. azurite) but basically black in normal light so I prefer this colour although sometimes it looks very bright and slightly purple blue in the sun (but not always - not sure why).
The specification on the site was rather wrong, but the actual specification is generally very similar to as I would have ordered. I am waiting for LCI tail lights (due end of Feb), and had the rear badges removed. Very happy to have the round dials as I never liked the sidewinder (Autocar description) ones on my last M5, and a CD player/hard drive download ability.
I was the original owner of G30 D5s #009 which I bought Dec 17 and sold to UberGT Sept 19 to get the G30 M5 which was I regretted fairly quickly so very happy to be back in the Alpina family!

Lovely! I detailed a Blue Pozzi 550 Maranello last year and it's a great colour. It does change significantly, depending on the light. Great choice. 8)

Congrats what a beast. I think the colour is lovely, especially given the purple tinge.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments - the extras (as I recall - not 100% sure what was standard in 2019) are high performance brakes, HUD, full merino, rhomb headrests (would have preferred logo), ventilated seats, pan. roof, SPG (had specced this on the B3 but would have left it off with the Matt silver exterior trim here), adaptive cruise - I think the rest HK etc is standard.

Congrats on the B5.
Did I read this correctly? The tail light assembley can be upgraded to the more angular looking LCI type? A simple straight swap or more involved?
Would seriously consider changing mine if not complicated to do.
The LCI back end looks so much sharper and modern.

Yes, LCI tail lights fit - Really helpful at Bowkers - they say I am the first UK order for touring lights - they aren’t cheap but looking at how fantastic Nicktd’s LCI looks I think they are worth it!

Fantastic looking car - congratulations!

As per Metrics' comment above, it would be interesting to know your thoughts on M5 vs B5.

My G30 M5 was a brilliant car - I bought the last of the pre competition only models at massive discount - but the ride even pre comp was too firm on the country roads near me and lacked the subtlety of the B5 and the noise was always angry and a bit industrial - I am fortunate to have owned a few XKR’s and love the V8 noise - the B5 sounds more traditional V8 to me but is there in the background until you prod it rather than upfront all the time as in the M5 if that makes sense. My F10 M5 was a total lemon sadly and a disaster - swapped for a 40d X5 after 12 months.

Thanks for the insight - nice to hear the thoughts of someone who has owned both.

I’m not surprised about the ride - that really is where the Alpina magic shines brightest. It’s my favourite thing about mine. I love a fast estate too so it’s my perfect car.

I remember being excited when your car came on the market - the colour and spec were very nice. Your photos show off the colour even better too, it’s a very special car. Enjoy!
