Local wheel refurb place have quoted £51+vat for the alloy wheel repair. The will have to refurb the wheel as part of the process. Now that means i have to have all four done....
Who are you using for this?

There is a place in Swindon - used to be called Lepsons but changed their name to Platinum - who are recommended and know about ALPINA wheels and paint colour.

You will find them just off J16 of the M4, if I recall correctly, so very local to you.

Platinum alloys have gone down hill in all the reports i read. Lepsons were very good, but since being bought out, Platinum have a very poor reputation.

I have found a place called Pro Alloys in Melksham (even more local) who said that they will take a look. I will gague how i feel about them and if they appear to know what they are doing, I will only go there if i feel that they will do a good job.

My other option is to find another wheel for sale.

Anyone got a spare?

Certainly not in my experience: far from going downhill: better than ever!
And they haven't been 'bought out'. They were sub-contracting for Lepsons and decided it was too much hassle for the peanuts they made on each refurb for them, so just do their own thing, now. The owner has never changed: I know him, personally, and he's a dedicated, intense individual who, if cock-ups do occur, puts them right. They're nol the cheapest, but they are very good. Think my last refurb on 19's cost around £100 each inc vat inc a diamond cutting

They are worth a try. Ask for Scott, he's the owner and you'll see what I've said about him is true :D . There is a discount for membership of the forum, too, so worth a mention.

Scott will often take enthusiasts round the facility so you can see the process, and if you're not happy with the results of the work done, tell him, not a forum, and you will get it re-done with no hassle at all. Occasionally things do go wrong with processes, and he knows that but can't correct it unless he does.

They've picked up a lot of main dealer stuff in the area, and do the local Porsche and Ferrari wheels (unless they try again, that is, but Porsche won't be touching my wheels again: Scott will! There is history of the dealers trying to save money on wheel refurbishment by diy....it hasn't gone well)

Cheers
Bobbly

Here You go rav
https://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/optio ... aps_alpina

Don’t tighten the metal valve cap as they can seize tight and you won’t be able to fill up with air
It may be worth getting new Centers badges also from these guys
Cheers

My old girl is due for a wheel refurbishment tomorrow at Pro Alloys in Melksham. I bought the valves and will be sure to keep the old caps too.

I am also giving in my Porsche Boxster 18" 2 pc wheels for a colour change - which will be £££.

I will post updates once the car is back on Friday.....

Its been hard to say bye to the car....

I collected the Buchloe beast on Friday and bought her home. It was great to have her back again.
The wheels look great. Not a massive difference to the apperance as the corrosion was on the backs of the wheels. Two buckles straightend out.

The centre cpas now need adjustment as they are rattling. I had previously loosened these as the last refurbish had laquered too thick. I should be able to get these sorted.
I also want to paint my callipers and have chosen a Foliatec product in Vintage Copper or Dirty Gold as my kids call it. I will try and get this done, this week.
