KIA I40

Post by Peter&Janet » Sun Nov 30, 2014 4:03 pm

My son has spent quite a lot of time over the last 6 months with us in Bingham. He has regulars hire cars but yesterday we went off to my local golf club and he the set the average milage. I was amazed as the 20 mile round trip returned 69 mpg and he is no slouch although the roads are never busy and anyone using the A614 is well aware of the numerous cameras.

I did get 28 in the B3, 33 in M135, 41 in the 123D and the best ever 54 in the audi A3 for the same run. This I40 1.7 D I think, is huge in comparison to these cars, well fitted out albeit manual, I guess the size of a 5 series maybe a little smaller.

I read also the 1 series baby BMW site and even the new 120/125 are struggling past 50 mpg but for all BMW assertion of good/brilliant fuel consumptions it seems to me they are still far behind in the real world.

His other hire cars have been the Lexus IS hybrid which worked well beautifully finished and extremely fuel efficient, well it would be running on electric below 30 mph. Passat D very good but never checked.
