My E30 specialist friend Boyd came for a look at it and confirmed that out of all the places an E30 can rust my sport had it in all of those places and some others never seen before

That led to a deal being struck for Boyd to scrap the sport for me and I took ownership of this Touring shell
Its as solid as an E30 25 year old shell can be , only needing a few bits of attention.
The plan was to throw all the running gear from the Sport into it
That was until I accidentally bought an E36 M3 Evo saloon
Plan B was then hatched to built it with the Evo running gear.

Everything was stripped off the shell to see exactly how good it was
Boyd fabricated a special wee E30 trolly for easy manoeuvring in and out of the workshop

On the whole the shell was really sound. A wee dod of rust next to the A pillar that would usually get filled with P38 got proper attention

As did the ropey front valance

The car shell has been waxoiled and sealed underneath and isn't too far off going in for paint round 1 to get the engine bay, door checks etc painted before we get the Evo running gear in it Then it will go off for a glass out respray in either zinnobar or Hellrot red for paint round 2. Various bit and bobs of suspension are away getting powdercoated at the moment too and I have managed to source a cracking black leather sport interior for it with rear headrests too
Progress is at a pace as and when Boyd has any slow time and can squeeze a few hours here and there.
I'm not in any particular hurry to do this as it is getting done right and should make a proper sleeper when completed
You can catch up with Boyd at his site Bavarian Retro
