I know what you mean Paul, love the colours too, but it's screaming out for a deeper front splitter and some nice alloys.

I was looking at that earlier - it does look good. I’m assuming carbon black wasn’t a ‘standard’ colour either? I’ve always been nervous of owning a black car though as they show every spec of dust!

Appreciate the offer of taking a look for me. I’ll give you a shout if I’m interested…..
No worries, with two carbon black cars in the family I can safely say that are not as bad as jet black etc but still not perfect. A good ceramic coat will make your life easy when it’s time to clean it.

The F13 is lovely and a great spec, it would be interesting to know your opinion of the engine characteristics compared to your B5 if you do drive a 50i

A set of Alpina wheels would be very tempting…..

It would be weird owning 2 cars with such similar drivetrains. I can’t work out if it’s a good thing, or if I should go for something a bit different.

With the B5 being so great to use could you not end up In a similar position that you were in with the Porsche? Of course personal preference but for me I would see them as too closely related to each other to justify spending the money. Do you need the practicality of a 4 seater or would 2 suffice? If so a Roadster S could be a good alternative.

It's very possible! I'm hoping a convertible will be a tempting option on summer weekends though. I do definitely want a 4 seater so we can all enjoy it - I so rarely get a chance to just 'go for a drive' on my own these days.

I think the bottom line to all of this is that the B5 is just too damn good! We've just come back from a week away in it for half term and it was just perfect.

I rather like the look of this, great colour with piped leather, just need to remove the boot letters and steering wheel badge. If the wheels are genuine Hardlines that would be perfect.

That's really nice actually. If it was a V12 I'd be very tempted. The rise in price of the 850CSi annoys me greatly, as they were a bargain not too long ago.

I do keep looking at it. It looks superb, but I don't think the colour combo is for me. I dread to think what the kids would do to that white leather!

I'm doing my best to be patient - I'm hoping the used car prices might settle a bit in the new year. Wishful thinking?

I know you weren’t looking for an oil burner, but check this out, it has a nice options list.

If that was a B4 I'd be pretty excited - fantastic colour and spec. Would be nice having 2 Alpina Blue cars parked together.

It's a tough call between one of these and an F12 650. I might try and look at a few local 4 and 6 Series cabs to see how much room is in the back etc.

I keep saying it but I'm in no rush. Tyre kicking is the fun part - I always find it gets a bit painful when I have to get my wallet out!

I've sorted it Paul, you can stop the search now ... how does a B6 GT3 (ish) sound?

An F33 B4 would be very hard to ignore.
This proved to be the case! I was trying to hold off until next year - I really didn't expect a B4 to come up so soon, especially not an S.

I think the 4 Series is a more practical package than the 6, as much as I love the shape. Smaller on the outside but more rear legroom. Plus, the straight 6 is a great contrast to the V8.
