Emulsion all over front foot well !!!

Post by woolley11 » Wed Jun 02, 2021 8:08 pm

Thanks to an impatient lady driver - cut a long story short, I ended up with 2.5ltr of cream emulsion in the passenger footwell of my G31 Tourer !!

Obviously the carpet was covered but I had a rubber mat which caught most of it. I hope a good valeter can sort it out - I’ve got most of it out with a Henry hoover and washing it. The plastic trims are engrained with paint too.

What worries me is that it has gone under the seat and into the vents for the blow air (I guess that’s what they are).

Any advice on getting it out of the plastic trim.

A good carpet wash may get most of it out of the carpet, but I think the seat will have to come out to get to the grills and clean out the vents.

I’m not prepared to claim on insurance as excess £ and loss of no claims bonus.

I would suggest a nail brush and plenty of hot soapy water for the plastic trim if it is the grainy leather effect type I’m thinking about. Lucky it’s water based and not oil based gloss.

Not sure if this would help, but if I wish to remove the water based acrylic paint from a plastic model kit I use 'Carson paint killer' ( https://www.wonderlandmodels.com/produc ... ver-100ml/ ). Works a treat even on old paint.

Hope all goes well.

Cheers

Thanks - I’ll try anything

It’s a right bummer - “bloody woman” - runs out of warranty next month so after that I might get my Indy bm garage to get passenger seat out and clean up underneath it. I’m sure carpets will clean up.

To cap it all the wife said; well you can’t have got lid on properly - great support 😳
