Crash involving coutsey car advice pls

Post by hap » Wed Nov 08, 2017 3:12 pm

My sister had her car in repairs and had a courtesy car signed for and insured by the garage anyway she had a rtc damage to coutsey car and other car
She has been told to pay 250 excess and garage will cover all claims arising
Question is do we tell her actual ins company now even though not claiming or declare at renewal ?

If the garage will be using her name on a claim to their insurance company then you will have to tell her insurer about the accident.
I had a bump in my work van, work insurance policy but still notified my insurer as it will be picked up on their database and then they have a get out excuse if ever i was to claim.
It didn’t affect my NCB but probably bumped up my premium a little for the following years I had to declare. It.

Cheers Phil have clarified with my insurance n they said definitely at renewal time which she will do so she is with tesco never had a prang or claim driving over 12 years so unsure if Ncd affected or load it up
Fairly certain will be a fault claim

As you won’t be claiming on your policy the NCD stays intact. But they still load the premium but not by much in my experience.

What Phil has said is correct

Had it happen a few times in work, though it depends on the insurer as we've had reports that some premium's have gone up, and one case of a Loss of NCD

Is the repair alot more than the excess? If not then may be worth biting the bullet and paying out
