New series Fifth gear last night

Post by Mark996 » Tue Sep 04, 2012 1:57 pm

Hi everyone...

Did anyone see it?? For those that don't know, fifth gear is now on discovery every week and it's now an hour long show...

Before I start, I'll tell you I ran out of patience a loooooong time ago with top gear, as it's seemingly now turned into more a sit com with a couple of cars that only 1% of the population can afford thrown in, presented by 3 pompous idiots who are ridiculously full of their own self importance....I mean, do they actually 'test' cars anymore, or simply see how fast the latest super ars goes?!

Anyway, back to fifth gear - I thought a decent start to the new season, but was a little disappointed that there was no 'shoot out' this week - here's hoping for more of that....

Oh, and while I'm on the top gear vs fifth gear rant - lets not forget that fifth gear is the only show to ever have had an Alpina on it!!!

I forgot to set the box to record it before I left home for Norway so hope it will be repeated, I'm sure it will.

OOOOOOOH Controversy

Just add weight to the other side.
I cant stand Fifth Gear and never miss Top Gear
(or the much appreciated repeats on Dave)

I dont want to watch a 2 car shoot out between a Mini and Seat DIESEL :no

Or some Nerd tell me about the new Civic.

I want entertainment in Cars I will never own and people cocking
about for fun and using the license payers money to do so.

Oh yeah and Jason Plato is a C0CK

I watch both for different reasons, Entertainment or Information

But if push comes to shove I prefer the more in depth, discussion on indicator stalk quality, rather than a Mini flying off a ski jump show, but I'm a bit anoraky (real word)

Cheers

Can't disagree with you on that score :)

You don't watch Top Gear for factual information, you watch it because it's fun and it's got lots of fast cars that you could never afford - to my mind the two shows don't compete, they compliment...

I don't feel I need to choose between the shows. I like both of them for what they are, accepting that Top Gear is more a general entertainment show based on motoring and Fifth Gear remains a typical car show. I don't see them as competition for each other.

I refuse to knowingly giving any of my hard earned money to Mr Murdoch so unfortunately I'm not able to see the new series of FG....until Dave or someone else gets it. Hopefully youtube will come up with the goods sooner or later
