Long shot - car hire

Post by Rav » Fri Jul 09, 2021 2:49 pm

I have booked a short stint away in Edinburgh later this month and had planned to take the wife's Audi diesel for the 7 hour drive up and of course back down country.

My man maths based brain has made me think, why not start the holiday as soon as you get in the car? I thought about renting a Porsche Cayenne, Panamera or perhaps even a new 3 series estate for the journey, but my local OPC said no and BMW Hungerford have not come back.

Any bright ideas on how to rent a car at an affordable rate to make this journey?

so you dont mean rent/hire really do you?
you want to masquerade as a potential buyer of a new car in the hope that you get one of their loaners for a few days?

No sorry if my post was not clear. I am happy to pay for 'rental' for a few days, but don't wish to pay over inflated costs.

The more unscrupulous would book in their car to the dealer and take the loan car...... :D

That's a good idea. The only advice I can give is to stay away from the car rentals at the airports. They always overcharge.
