it's so wrong on so many levels.... on the bright side though, every tastelessly modified alpina is one less decent one out there and makes the nice ones more sought after
Maybe, but this never was an Alpina!

Presumably a trick question, given that they give AN answer earlier on in the FAQ... I'd have thought a more significant factor is the loss of the chip on the driver's shoulder vs the M-Sport version...

Rather nerdy, but you notice how it refers incorrectly to Alpina AG - Alpina is a GmbH, not an AG!

This is really simple - do you want a 3 series or a 5 series?

The M40 IS one of the most civilised motorways, oddly. Must be a better class of motorist up in Oxfordshire... ;)

They said they only developed the LSD because of fussy journos who like to hang the tail out for photoshoots - figured they'd make it standard for the B6 (not just B6S, note) as journos always seem to think the 6er is a sports car, for some reason... Now, I tend to think an LSD is a good thing, but ...

Surprisingly good - closer to the 545i than to the M5.

If you can afford it, go for it - the running costs will be slightly higher than the 545i, but not radically so.

Special is when a company does as much R&D as Alpina does to produce as small a production run as they do (even more so, in the past). Special is when a small manufacturer puts out a car of higher quality and reliability than its mass-market cousin. Special is when you don't really notice the car, u...

Converting their old currency at parity to the DM meant lots of (relatively) wealthy older people, but it also meant that the cost (particularly wage) structures of East German companies rendered them hopelessly uncompetitive, given the lower levels of productivity in the East (older technology, etc...

Wow, though perhaps not so surprising, really - Sytner City in Stratford used to have the servicing job for the Met's E39s, and one of the techs there told me that they were each going through a whole new set of dampers (and springs/links in some cases) every few months! That's what happens when you...
