Re: Latest Rumours- only B7 and XB7 from BMW?

I think writing was on the wall when the acquisition was announced. Alpina has always had niche appeal, the average punter doesn’t even know what it is and of the folk that do, many equate them with cars that BMW already sells (M3 and M5). Hard to see that BMW would find it worthwhile selling expens...

Re: Alpina Insurance

Renewal quote £1700 from Aviva, not entirely unexpected given what’s happened with car insurance recently. I’ve got 15 years NCD, no claims or convictions, 4000 miles a year and I don’t have an especially high risk profession (I think 🤔). I do however live in the environs of some of the worst postco...

Re: 2021 B3 Touring

Nice one. I’ve never driven one but I doubt the D is discernibly slower than the B anywhere other than on paper and on the skinny side of a ton plus on the speedo.

Feel free to post some pics when the beast arrives!

Re: G21 B3 Tyre Pressure and/or resetting warnings

My car is pre-LCI so bear in mind my menu might be different to yours. On the tyre pressure monitoring screen there’s an option for tyre settings. Within that menu there’s a drop-down that says load status. Within that you have the option to select partial load. If you select this the car will tell ...

Re: 2021 B3 Touring

Welcome to the forum. I can’t comment on this particular car but the B3 is a brilliant daily. As a fan of fast estates I doubt you’d regret it if you do go for it. I’m not convinced there’s any particular benefit buying from Sytner. The car will presumably have at least 9 months left on the factory ...

Re: G21 B3 Touring - which wheels?

Classics here too. I wouldn’t worry too much about the weight saving of a few kg given the car is more than two tonnes fully loaded. Being forged might well help them to withstand buckling, but then again because they necessitate thin bands of liquorice for tyres, that may be offset by the increased...

Re: YouTube - M3 Touring vs B3 Touring vs M340i Touring

I dailied an E86 for years. Great car but with a ridiculously firm and brittle suspension setup (at least in combination with the OEM Bridgestone RFT’s). So I’m sure I could live with whatever the M3 has to offer in terms of spine-shuddering (lack of) compliance. But every time I look at the B3, I s...

Re: Values rising or over inflated speculation?

I’m no expert, but my impression is it’s been like this for as long as I’ve been vaguely following the market (circa 10 years). I guess it’s a combination of a few things. These are hard to price due to scarcity. Sellers may tend to dream a bit because whilst they know they have something a little s...

Re: Snow foam rules

As a newbie to snow foam, I looked at various vids on YouTube - half of which said spray SF onto dry car, half said pressure wash car first What is the accepted “ normal routine “ for Alpina owners. Thanks I suppose one answer might be that it depends on the product. All of my detailing potions hav...

Re: Trackers??

Welcome to the forum. Apologies for providing an answer to a question you didn’t ask. Feel free to ignore entirely. Personally, I wonder if I’d want my car back in the event it were ever stolen. I might be wrong as it’s never happened, but I question whether it’d be a constant reminder of something ...

Cool. I’ve never been spotted AFAIK. I still haven’t, as this isn’t mine.

But I can say I’ve driven a spotted car now. That was a Sytner demo car.

Re: New b3s touring luton airport

Lovely car though - admittedly it’s not obvious at a glance as the models look similar - that’s a B5.

DRL/headlamp unit shape, wheels without centre caps and the (I guess) air vent behind the front wheels are the most obvious giveaways if not for which it’d be hard to distinguish from the pre-LCI B3.

Re: The real difference between M and Alpina…?

It’s comforting to be amongst the like minded. The missus thinks I’m crazy but the decision regarding whether we take the family in my car or hers is informed by Google Maps’ images of what the destination parking looks like. No chance taking the B3 to any supermarket unless I’ve got the baby in tow...

And although it's been MOT'd most years, it doesn't look like the owners were so diligent with the actual servicing.
Or in general judging by the numerous dings, scratches and scrapes evident in the pics.
