Re: What did you do in your ALPINA today?
Annual service and check up today with fresh Castrol 0W30 LL04 oil, oil filter and brake fluid. A general suspension inspection of B3 Biturbo and no excessive wear on any of the control or radius arms and the front dampers showing no leaks, not even any oil misting at 105k miles (rears were changed ...

Re: Tyre pressures
Not great, as different tyres of the same size perform differently sometimes to a slightly tweaked pressure. Also different pressures within tolerances suit different types of driving and conditions.

Re: B10 Touring failing to proceed
If there are no leaks then the fuel level sensor or it may be a corroded or loose connector to it. Though I’ve not seen one behave like that before. Just a thought: Are you reading the mileage from the OBC? I seem to remember from the E36 coupe forum years ago that the OBC readings can wander out of...

Re: B10 Touring failing to proceed
I’ve a similar asset and can’t even have carnauba wax on my hands/clothes without a headache episode, cellulose paint is forbidden too without notice! :? . If it’s fuel, then favourites at fault could be the pump, pipe, or just a blocked fuel filter. Lesser chance it may be an injector leakin...

Re: BMW Car Club Sommerfest Cancelled
Bmwccgb (Aberystwyth) :doh I think I understand why it was located there originally (to suit the Management?) but I couldn’t see how it assisted the majority of the members. A bit off topic, but as far as a perspective from a “Northerner”, the location of the events should be varied, part of the exp...

Re: Wipers
Hope that was the cause, it’s a suck it and see thing, the relay has the most mechanical wear and tear apart from the wiper motor itself.

Always a gentleman and will be able to fix it, well within his capabilities. I believe he is ex-Porsche, but has always looked after my Alpinas and BMWs.

Re: Engine Temperature vs Longevity
I know the N54 engines in all the E90 B3’s run very hot. Some tunes run lower temperature plugs and bigger oil coolers. Not looked into it myself but it must help the plastic parts as you would be bringing the temperatures far under their maximum tolerance level. I noticed the cooling fan on mine ru...

Re: Car S.O.S E30 ALPINA
I wonder how many records there are and the physical size of the archives “someone” is holding. If they aren’t held for commercial reasons then perhaps a few volunteers might be allowed to scan and index them? The data can be lifted these days with the right software. Then if they are forum members ...

Re: E65 B7 Accelerator Pedal
I’ve swapped out mine for the ‘sport’ satin chrome edged tread model, so would lose that matching with the brake pedal if I swapped it again. I’ve had mine feel like it’s sticking a little on its travel but a squirt of switch cleaner/lubrication spray fixed it. Looks like the same pedal for E60/E90 ...

Re: What did you do in your ALPINA today?
The ABS light comes on sporadically when travelling in a straight line (at various speeds). The error code I'm getting is '41 steering angle plausibility' so I think it just needs calibrating/resetting so I'm desperately trying to get Tool32 working on my XP laptop as I'm told that will fix it for ...

Re: What did you do in your ALPINA today?
You may need to recalibrate it too. The ABS popped up on the E92 so after diagnosing the steering angle, off came the wheel as it was making a creaking sound, the slip ring enclosure had come apart a little too, so re-greased the ribbon cables inside, luckily it clipped back together and my Foxwell ...
