Re: What did you do in your ALPINA today?

I know the B5 features two comfort seats as standard, but didn't know there was an optional third one (and clearly not a space saver!).

Nearly 600 miles into a trip - Entered limp mode. Serious transmission vibration and misfire.
Not good..... Hope it's nothing too serious but it doesn't sound great. Are you able to get it in anywhere to be checked out?
Is there an update on Brunhild?

Re: What did you do in your ALPINA today?

Extremely disappointed to discover CS17s are made in Taiwan. I’d been led to believe they were specially crafted by flaxen haired Bavarian maidens. :doh http://superalloyengineering.com/products/wheels/ ... perhaps the maidens do a stint in Taiwan every now and then. I wonder where the non-forged w...

I've since realised it's an Alpina specific part,

G2x - Gloss Centre Console Panel

All G2x BMW seem to have a matt centre console panel, even on highend models with the piano trim option (£500). non-gloss control panel.png Yet every G2x Alpina seems to have a gloss centre console panel i.e. where the production badge is stuck. gloss control panel.png Is that a standard Alpina thin...

Re: Extending a Vehicles Warranty

I am the person called Norman who covers his B7 E65 with fully comprehensive warranty. What does it cost, around 2K a year. What does it cover - BMW fully comprehensive warranty. How much have I paid - around 18k over 10 years, how much have I had back? 31K of warranty work, plus this year a new Su...

Re: G30 dynamics?? Hmmm Thoughts

Wheels are very personal, if anyone is old enough to remember venoms, lots liked them but I thought they were hideous Haha, that takes me back! Remember a mate running 17" Venoms on a Pug 106 Zest. Hitting a particularly bumpy stretch of moor land road, 4-up and the o/s rear wheel got wedged up in ...

Re: G30 dynamics?? Hmmm Thoughts

I've opted for Dynamics on the basis of cost; better ride quality (more tyre wall); and potentially less chance of rim damage (due to more tyre wall). Cosmetically I like both, but whillst I think Classics are ... well classic Alpina, I do think the Dynamics work well with the rest of the G2x stylin...

BMW Trackstar Tracker

I will likely need a Category 5 / S5 for my D3 S.

What is the experience of forum members with BMW approved Trackstar trackers?
Any other tracker recommendations?

Re: Extending a Vehicles Warranty

Other options ...

(1) form the Alpina Forum Benevolent Fund to pay out on big bill failures (>£2000 threshold) for any member.

(2) set up a Just Giving page.

Re: Extending a Vehicles Warranty

The last extended warranty I purchased was on a E91 330i (manual) for a couple of years back in 2010. It was the offical BMW warranty and I had the comprehensive option with breakdown cover too (as opposed to drive trian only). It cost me something like £50 per month and so long as the direct debit ...

Re: F11 Alpina Ride Height Data?

In contrast to BMW and Alpina, Porsche quote the ride height as being the distance from a flat/horizontal surface to specific bolts on the front and rear subframes (left to right should be the same). Granted its a bit of a faff to measure, but it negates different wheel/tyre sizes (as all should ult...

Re: F11 Alpina Ride Height Data?

Typically measurements that use the wheel arch as the upper reference will uses the lowest edge of the wheel for the lower reference - this negates incorrect tyre inflation. Measurements must be taken on a flat and horizontal surface. With coil-over suspension, one can vary the ride height at each c...

Re: Alpina D3/B3 G20 Kidney Grill vs BMW M3 G20 Kidney Grill

As it happens, the only niggle I have with my car at all is wind whistle, sounding like it’s coming from the level of the rear view mirror, above about 60mph. The G21s I've driven have been very quite into three figures. All had the spoiler ahead of the pano-roof. Guess one could have it retro fitt...

Re: A-Plan Insurance - Scheme for Members!

A-Plan Thatcham have come up with a competitive quotation for a multicar policy (Alpina D3S Touring, Subaru Forester, SEAT Arona). The underwriters insist upon a Cat 5 tracker for the Alpina (so I'll likely go with the BMW Trackstar from Sytner ahead of collection). I'm dealing with Gareth Bown - in...
