Re: B5 E61 (Touring)

Still can't figure out why more people didn't buy these cars from new, in the UK. Together with the original owner of #010, I had to twist Sytner's arm to import any of them! The good news is, the E61 B5 cars should retain their value like no other BMW of that vintage - even back in 2008, the chap w...

Blue G31(?) on the A30 outside Stockbridge

Passed a nice new B5 or D5 (Touring, I think) on the A30, outside Stockbridge in Hampshire, this morning, at about 9.30am. Registration was [XX]70ALP, I think...

Sorry to be so vague - anyone from hereabouts?

Re: Alpina D3S Number 014

The car looks great in either colour, and I quite like the black grille, but the main thing which strikes me is just how much nicer the B3/D3 now looks, compared to the M3! Now, if they could just produce a B4/D4 with the nose from the B3/D3, that would be rather a cool thing... P.S. love the interi...

Re: The prodigal returns...

The Forester Turbos were great fun too - they used to move about so much on those compromise tyres! Your new Alpina looks great too - very classy in Mediterranean Blue. Enjoy! I've had good number of Porsches and Subarus. Still love my Forester 2.0XT after 10 years - best all-rounder I've ever owne...

Re: F30 D3 BiTurbo #296

If it was this one which was advertised earlier this month, then it is #296 which is Nov-16 registered. Are you going off the Sytner order date of Oct-15 shown on the Register? Yes, that is the one - I hadn't realised that the dates on the Register were for the orders, rather than for the delivery ...

Re: The prodigal returns...

Excellent - the BMWs have served you well. Interested to hear what the Subarus and Porsches were? I grew up with Subarus as my Dad worked for them from day 1 in the UK. Great cars. My love for BMs and Porsches started from a young age too..... 1999 Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000 RB5 WR Sport (Prodrive) ...

Re: The prodigal returns...

Thanks CaesarBob!

I'm not sure that it is actually 296, although the spec is identical to that one, only because it's on a 66 plate, so would have been first registered in late 2016.

Will let you know when I've confirmed the number.

Re: The prodigal returns...

Thanks - yes, this will be my 3rd Alpina, but my 11th BMW/Mini car - the rest have been an assortment of Subaru, Lotus, Porsche and VW group products - oh, and the Range Rover, but even that was designed during the BMW era! And a Ford, which I'm still trying to forget. 2016 F30 D3 Bi-Turbo 2013 Mini...

The prodigal returns...

Hi guys,

Sorry I've been away for, um, literally many years, but just wanted to let you know I'm returning to the Alpina fold - I've agreed to buy the rather lovely Mediterranean Blue late-2016 D3 which Sytner Nottingham had up for sale...

My old car (from new) kept lunching the clutch for the supercharger - basically it couldn't cope with the stop/start London traffic. After about 10k miles, they replaced the charger and clutch with the definitive spec, after which no problems at all (nor since, the current owner told me - he lives d...
