I can only speak from my experience.. If you have a std car there are limited variables between them to make a custom rolling road remap worthwhile. Remapping a D3 or D3bt will have an emense transformation in regard to outright performance with smooth driving experience to match. Go to a good place...

This is why I sold my 123d in the end.. I was terrified of the chain going after reading all the horror stories. You did the right thing, I was reading through the thread thinking "just put a engine in it from a breaker". Make sure the new engine they put in had the new cam tensioner!!!! They tried ...

I also thought the suspension has something changed, possibly the springs.. not been under a D3 to find out. When a friend had one they were pretty harsh on the road though, maybe the larger wheels - didn't feel like a standard non-sport to me. Anyway, back to remapping.. The mono-turbo D3 had a sin...

I was talking to my dad the other day and he reminded me when I had a 205gti and the expansion bottle cap spring seized. It built up pressure and explodes either the bottle or the weakest pipe in the link (or rad!).

Worth replacing that if you can.. nice a cheap!

Oh, go on then... It's not one of the 'nicest' pictures, just something I had on my phone. http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo17/Richy_Boy/20140524_162403_zps9ee56b47.jpg It's a true joy to drive, both on the commute and pushing on, exactly what I needed after the slightly numbing experience of th...

Bit expensive, but you can get the genuine BMW unit or there's an Alpina unit which works also from memory. As per the PM I replied to, I think you're better off getting an iPod converter and moving with the times.. 6 albums.. pah! :) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-6-DISC-CD-MP3-CHANGER-3-5-SERIES-E4...

FYI I replaced the water pump on that car, with tensioner, thermostat and belts I believe. You should have receipts for the parts in your book, it was fitted by myself (well SPA69 with my 'help') :D Sounds like an air lock to me, but it's probably time to throw a new radiator in the old girl anyway....

Good choice Sir 8)

After a succession of newer cars (335d Coupe was the last) I've gone back old school and have an e46 M3 CS. Funnily enough I'm fitting a new alternator and belts to that next week! Oh.. and a DSC brake line pressure sensor :(

My memory is vague at best about the b3s setup now, but if you disconnect the vacuum pump then its worth also disconnecting the start up air pump also. Otherwise you will find the revs will be raised but your brakes will be wooden until you've driven it for a while to get the master cylinder primed....

Ade, I'm sure you're a lovely guy.. You have a Roadster which averages 25mpg, burns 1L of oil every 650 miles and you have a dig at me for polluting our planet? Get real. :D My car will do 50+mpg on a run, doesn't burn any oil and gets serviced twice as often as recommended by BMW, which will probab...

No soot comes out the back of mine when I boot it as it has been remapped carefully in conjunction with the DPF-removed downpipe. It's only when they're over fuelled they generate black smoke/soot to decent levels on a modern injected diesel engine. I'd imagine a Roadster S burning 1L of oil every 1...

Yeah, they can either remove the DPF cycle from the OEM map, or tweak the map to provide a bit more ooompff.

For the rear coils, you can jack the car up, remove the wheel and reseat the coils by hand - maybe pushing down on the hub with your foot if they're tight. You can change the rear coils in about 10 minutes a side. Costs for Alpina springs are about £150 a pair... unless you want to be adventurous a...

Is this not the same thing as a cabin filter? i.e. it's about £35 to buy and takes ~10 minutes to fit? If so... 1 Can I ignore it? Well, I'd recommend you follow the Service interval given to you.. 2 Shall I wait til next service? When's it due? If it's soon, yes.. if it's ages away, I'd do it myse...

Remove the DPF.. simple. I had mine removed from my 123d (D3 bi-turbo engine) and it made a nice change to the performance, sound and economy of the car. I bought a full DPF-delete kit, 2x remaps (fast and very fast!) and a handheld ECU programmer/code reader for ~ £650 from Ecotune. That said, my ...
