Re: Lagoon green E36 B2.5 coupe looks an honest motor 0892026

Looks like you will need a replacement rear screen to get rid of the hole if you removed the aerial, or an 'orrible rubber bung. Keeping the period/kitsch aerial seems the best option to me. I think they work by induction through the glass so there will be a little box on the interior aligned with ...

Always an exciting time - I'll hopefully swap mine over this weekend too. What wheels do you run as winters out of interest?
Used to run 17" BMW Style 45 wheels with Alpin rubber but upgraded to a second staggered set of 18" Classics with Pilot Sport Alpin tyres this year

Took my errant B10 out for a 10 mile round run near us - after it chucked its toys out the pram yesterday with a battery issue.

Happy to report she behaved herself 😊
Do you think it was just a loose connection on the battery terminal?

I've just made a small donation. Thanks for all the work maintaining the site. I've recently bought B3 3.3 Cabrio 180, and i'm not sure I would have without the forum!
Thank you 😄

Re: Rebuilt engine oil usage

The first 180k miles were using 0W-30 and then, after rebuild #1, I changed to 5W- 40.

This time round, I chose to to stick with 5W-40.

Re: Educate me please....

The petrolhead father of a school friend would often quote, "Power for show, torque for go!" (or something like that) From experience, I think this answers your question Adam. With full torque available from 2000rpm, the Alpina will always pull out of corners quicker and unless there is a very long...

Re: Educate me please....

Adam has explained that well.

I would add, however, that where the M3 is about power, the equivalent Alpina is about torque, particularly lower down the rev range.

In a straight line, the M3 will beat a B3/B3S but put them on the twisty bits and it's a very different story

I've heard there's another green all wheel drive e46 touring Alpina. It was awd and a complete one off ordered for the Baron of Buckinghamshire.

Re: Rebuilt engine oil usage

Charles, I don’t think this is bad, you will expect to use some oil bedding in, especially oiling of the bores. The old YB in the Cosworth used to drink a half litre a month and this was even recognised in the owners manual. I should have been clearer - when the original engine was new, I used to b...

Rebuilt engine oil usage

I've managed 3500 miles in a year since the big rebuild and I've used 1/4 litre of oil.

Must be the new piston rings!
