Re: New Member Swansea
Techno violet is lovely, especially with the cream leather :D I may have seen you around in that in the past....I'll keep my eyes open whenever i'm over Swansea way for you, but I'll either be in an orange pork or a blue Cupra, so unlikely you'd spot me waving. I'm sure you'll be divisive with the s...

Re: F32 B4S UK Production
Really nice colour 8) and as far away from monochrome cars as can be, thankfully. I'm sort of keeping an eye on these as a possible/maybe for future 3rd car, but leaning more towards a cabriolet as it would be for fun/tinkering only. Or I may just go older school E46 cabriolet...again, just watching...

Re: Disc size? D3 2008
As John says, 320d parts. I changed a set of brakes on a '08 plate D3, and all parts are standard 320d. The size of the discs is stamped into them along with the minimum allowable thickness, usually on the rim....if it's legible under the crust of rust. From memory I'd not like to say which size the...

Re: How rare is the E92 D3 Coupe?
Lots to add to your story to get a realistic guide, but in short: not worth an awful lot. Add some info on service history, condition, maybe some pix to show condition of wheels/tyres/badging/interior etc as these are expensive bargaining chips. There are around 100 UK units showing as probably stil...

Archive records show 150 produced, but no year by year breakdown, sadly.

Re: B3 3.3 Convertible
I'm fairly sure I drove this car in Sept 2013 as it came to a meet we organised: it was during my custodianship of B3SBT #285, so know the timescale.. It wasn't as tidy as the recent pics, was definitely a pale blue B3 3.3 on a 51 and it had the timber inside. Plenty of dashboard lights were illumin...

Re: G31 B5 Touring
Yes, I heard similar Ade. Apparently Ed (Dick) Lovett is the principal shareholder in Collecting Cars. The suggestion was that ghost bids were at play on the CC auction and in reality it didn't sell, then it ended up at Dick Lovett as a trade sale Yes, Ed(d?) Lovett is part of the Dick Lovett famil...

Re: B3?
Hi Mike I thought there were 3 E91 Biturbos, so that may make sense. #17 is space grey, #51 is Alpina Green 2...plus from the above, an unknown to me # allrad which I understand are all LHD as allrad messes with the steering rack positioning among other items which disagree with it! Same number of c...

Re: Brake discs and pads for a 2010 d3 biturbo
For clarity, I think John means standard 325d/330d/330i discs and pads of diameter 330mm, thickness 24mm for the front of the E9x D3 Biturbo. Rears similarly are taken from E9x 325d/330d/330i models of the same build era. The standard E9x 320d brakes are smaller and won't fit the calipers. The detai...

Re: Car covers, any recommendations?
I use indoor covers, and always manufacturer supplied, fleece lined. However, I only fit one if the car is spotlessly clean and dry ie prior to a short-medium term storage period. I would be very wary of an outdoor cover for a number of reasons, especially as you are so careful about caring for your...

Re: Real power output vs. official
The manufacturer quoted power of all automotive engines is measured in a laboratory at a known altitude and with known parameters such as atmospheric pressure and ambient air temperature which therefore controls the volume of air being consumed by the engine. They also use a fuel grade which is of c...
