Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I'm not a happy bunny...... washed the car today to find right along the bottom of the boot lid there is paint damage with rust spots and a matching line along the shut plate underneath the lid.

I can see what's happened, something is out of alignment so when the boot is closed hard the paint has been chipping, and all the salt on the roads recently has had a good dig at the weaknesses.

Really want to nip this in the bud quickly so if anyone in the area can recommend me somewhere they've had good service at a reasonable price that would be much appreciated.

Agh! Crying or Very sad

Thanks,
John

Thanks gents Smile

I was absolutely beside myself when I saw the damage, it's not what you'd call a minter but I would hand on heart describe the car as in good condition for the age and milage.

To see the corrosion around where the paint is chipped was gutting. Still, it's only in the very early stages by the look of it so hopefully won't be too painful to fix.

I think I'm being punished for my vanity in buying a private plate and set of upgrade lights! Pride goes before a fall and all that Wink

Looking on the bright side (!!!! Shocked ) this could even be a good time to get some other bodywork bits corrected too..... Is that my credit card I hear crying out in pain? Laughing

Cheers,
John

Can you get a carbon bootlid for a 5? Wink

Be sure the rust hasn't got inside your bootlid skin.. it did with mine and I really had to struggle to get the BMW bodyshop to repair it (after a bodged repair the year previous under warranty). They wanted me to buy a new bootlid which I didn't have the funds to do at the time Sad

They suggested it would be back again after a year, at which point I'll be replacing it with the facelift version.

I could do with a Berkshire bodyshop I could trust also, the BMW garage were terrible. i.e. badges not aligned, incorrect badges(!), overspray on rear lenses, clips missing when refitting - you name it.

No worries gents, I know a place in Newbury which I used a few years ago and they did a good job so I'll nip up there and see what they say.

As you can see from the pics it's really not that bad so hopefully I can nip it in the bud!

And yes I do know my rear number plate is a mess, new one about to be ordered Wink

Cheers,
John

Ross Packard is first class used him to do a full respray on my Lancia Integrale Evo 2 a few years ago.
Still gets top comments when ever I speak with any one that has used him (quite a few in maser circles).
