As above is it possible to retrofit on an E39? If so what are the likely costs?

I'd be interested in knowing this too, although my brother had them in E60 & the bench seat was alot thinner & really uncomfortable on long journeys. We both had E60's his had fold seat opt & mine did'nt, couldn't believe the difference in comfort. _________________

IIRC you cannot retro fit folding seats as you will have a metal panel behind your seats which is attached to the chassis. _________________ B10 V8 #240

I sort of agree with Allpina46: there's all kinds of stuff involved, beyond just taking the bulkhead away, which pragmatically make it not worth the effort, tbh. The seats are different, they hinge & clip to different brackets that need to be welded on, it's a real PITA. I've looked into it for both mine...& bought a roofbox instead... |

Thanks guys
What a pain in the alimentary canal
I can’t believe that a luxury/sports saloon from this era did not have this as standard
BMW you tight gits even my first car which had ‘L’ plates on ‘an Austin Metro 1.3 HLE - 1984' even had split folding seats as standard _________________ ALPINA B3 3.2 Coupe Switch-Tronic ALPINA Blue

Point taken Mark
Also after reading Mester-d’s post it is a compromise between comfort and practicality. However BMW can still spend several thousand £’s on R&D to make spilt folding seats to be as comfortable, so that it does become standard.
