Hi,
My approach would be to nip it up, inflate the tyre the spray some soapy water on it.
A more techincal approach wouod be an iso torque chart and look it up.
Cheers,
Gavin:)

I've managed to try one of the new valves in the bore after the refurb today with a drop of oil to start it.

The threads are shallow and look like a non-standard pitch so difficult to start.

I've had a small torque wrench delivered today (2Nm to 24Nm) , so will start at 3.5Nm, then go tighter if any leak. I found a box spanner was the easiest to use, deep enough and can hold the valve reasonably square on.

Also getting my local trusted fitter next day he is free to fit the new Michelins back on the refurbished wheels, in a wee bit of hurry as I'm still on winters.

This is what I've found from the TIS:

It appears to be the tightening torques for the metal valves with the USA tyre monitoring sensors.

Thanks Chaps.

I replaced 2 of the valves on my 19s a year ago and just tightened them to what seemed a sensible level, as they have O rings you really just need to make sure there's a 'solid' fit if that makes sense.

That makes perfect sense thanks, albeit subjective.

I dug the alloys out to find the refurb people had already fitted one of the new valve bodies back into a rim, and more tighter than I would have done them myself (not just a nip up), up at around 10Nm. I hope they haven't started the alloy threads to strip.

Hi Guys/Gals,

I have managed to buy a set of tyre valves from my local BMW dealer using the part number mentioned in earlier posts in this thread. The parts guy referred to them as being for the Alpina 19" Softline range.

He seemed quite knowledgable (even referred me to this site!) and have no reason to assume they aren't the correct ones for the 19" Classics on my 2007 D3. This said, I seem to recall that the term 'Softline' referred to earlier incarnations of Alpina alloys :?: .

Anyone out there able to reassure me, or otherwise!

The dealers have the name slightly wrong, they are "classics" for the E90/91/92/93 B3 and D3.

Valves:
B91.47.3.610.061 TYRE VALVE CONCEALED

As in the post at the bottom of the first page of the thread.

I have mine fitted after a refurb and they are fine :D

Here is the parts page with everything bar the valve part numbers and the foam anti-rattle pads for the hub caps strangely:

Hi John,

Thanks for that. Thankfully, the part number quoted by you (and others) is the item I purchased. It was only the dealer referring them to being for Alpina 'Softline' wheels that threw me, but they were obviously wrong! Thanks very much for taking the time to respond.

Forgot about this thread and glad it has been brought back to life

I will be ordering these for the B10 very shortly.

Can someone confirm that p/n 91473610061 is for softline 17 inch?

Also is the part number the same for classics (Aware this has already been answered but just would like it to be confirmed.)?

Thanks in advance

Cannot confirm the PN for 17" softlines, but the PN of the valves which fitted my 19" Classics was as quoted by JohnW above.

Can anyone tell me what size the O-ring is that goes behind the valve to seat it?

Cheers

Not sure if it helps mate but when I replaced my valve that was leaking the rubber came with it.

Thanks, but I thought it would be much cheaper just to replace the O-ring rather than the complete valve....and if the valve is leaking I can replace the valve-core.

Just modified a socket and tightened the valve slightly to see if that stops the pressure loss...we shall see.

Cheers :)
