Just a reminder to all Alpina's displaying at Silverstone 25th to 27th July --

I think Silverstone may have cocked up the display passes ! The first one i got was marked up BMW Historic . On chasing my second one, i got told they had to reprint and this one marked up BMWCC which is the one i have arranged.
The colour zone is yellow (Plot 31 now advised) and we are in same area as last year (Infield opposite Copse to Maggotts straight).

I will be there at 8am each day hopefully. Going to be knackered !

It is going to be a great weekend, particularly with this late announcement --eScala, finalists of the ITV hit show 'Britain's Got Talent', are set to take centre stage on Saturday 26 July at the 2008 Silverstone Classic, with two 30-minute performances at 6pm and 8:30pm.
Regret i will not be watching the racing at 6pm !!

Thanks to all of you who are coming.

Belated thanks to Blacky and Simon for attending Silverstone this weekend.
There was so much more to see and do this year compared to last - we were there 36 hours in all and still missed a lot. Totally shattered and all ive wanted to do today is to download nearly 1000 photos from my cameras.

To try to give something back to all the members who took their cars to Silverstone each day, i asked each car owner that day to vote on which car (apart from their own),on the club area, would they consider to be the Ultimate Driving Machine.
Voting each day was extremely close, and as a lot didnt return till late in the evening (night!!) most days, i have held the winners names back to now --

Day 1 (Friday) Alpina B7 Turbo(E28 base) -- John Safe.

Day 2 (Sat) Alpina Bi Turbo (E34 base) -- Elliott

Day 3 (Sun) 8 Series 840 -- Terry

If you could please PM me your address, your prize will be posted to you.

Note - Alpina's best first two days (shame a B12 was not there on Sun!!)

Silverstone have now got a plan to make this event the No1 at the circuit by 2010. They have already increased attendance from 41k last year to 57k this - the target for 2010 is 90k- they will do it.

I have already started to arrange the event for next year -- 24th to 26th July. Celebration is 60years since Jags first success at Silverstone.

If possible, would like a good representation of Alpina's, particularly the older ones who are approriate to the years of racing being shown.

Any volunteer's to attend the event , or help organise a good Alpina showing ?
