New Berkshire Pub Meet
New Berkshire Pub Meet
NEW FOR BERKSHIRE
STARTING ON THE 6TH MAY 2008, AT 7.30PM THERE WILL BE A PUB MEET AT:
THE STARTING GATE
75 BRUMMELL ROAD
NEWBURY. RG14 1SG
This is a new BMW Car Club monthly meet but it would be good to see some Alpina's. Not sure how many Alpina register members there are in the Berkshire / Hampshire area but if you can spare the time then please come along. It's difficult to get a new meet up and runing, I speak from experience so your support would be nice.
Hope some of you can make it....

Hi Simon,
I'm hoping to pop down as well. Can't promise the car will be sparkling but I'll do my best!
See you later

Ahh balls, a friend on here Aiders told me about this... I didn't realise it was tonight!
I'll be well up for this next time around...! Sorry I missed it guys, it would have been ideal moment for Charles to take my car for a spin and tell me what's broken!
I work just around the corner too!

Thanks to all of you that turned up tonight. We had a good range of BMW's, 11 cars in total, 2 of those being Alpina's...
Charle's B3 and Simon's B10
I think we had a good display of cars for our first pub meet, hope to see
more new faces next month. (Tuesday 3rd June)

Re: New Berkshire Pub Meet
Bit of a coincidence that it clashes with the Hampshire BMW Drivers' Club monthly meet...SPA69 wrote:This is a new BMW Car Club monthly meet

I guess it's a local meet to suit local people i.e. I wouldn't drive to Hampshire for a BMW meet, yet I'm planning (and so is Aiders) on going to this every month
I'm sure there's plenty of BMWs to go around...?

Blimey, politics involved in car meets - whatever next! Can we not simply suggest a change in dates so they don't clash for those keen enough to go to both?
My old club had clashes all over the place as there were so many different meets and events going on. I guess you can't please everyone...

Despite me saying that any other BMWCC members were more than welcome and stressing that the Hants BMWDC were not "in competition" it seems some people were not comfortable with this idea, which may or may not be why the same day of the month has been chosen for meets.
Of course the arguement would be that this is a Berkshire meet and not Hampshire, but both are covered by the Wessex Region.
"Support your Region" (and crush any "opposition") is the feeling I get about this, but I may well be wrong.

Wessex region of what club? Just because your club covers a certain catchment area, doesn't mean all other clubs have to follow... Besides Wessex is a huuuuuuuuuuuge area for one meet!
I hate to mention it, but my old club put Reading in the South region - so all the decent meets/events were along the south coast - hardly a quick beer and chat after work!
I wouldn't take this too personally, just another meet for people who wouldn't otherwise be able to make one at all.
Out of interest, where is your clubs meet?

That wasn't a BMW club, it was [the] Nissan 200sx one (SXOC).
The location for your 'competing meet' kinda makes my point, it would be a 100mile round trip for me - or £24 in fuel if I take it easy
Even more for Charles in Oxford!
Rich
