V8pina Essex Boys Short Notice Mini Meet

Post by nealpina » Thu Jan 17, 2008 1:20 am

As I previously briefly mentioned on the forum that Thomas and I had a mini meet or should I say 'V8pina Essex Boys Short Notice Mini Meet' LOL. As Thomas phoned me and asked if I would like to meet in 30 minutes? Why not, I said

We both did drive each other’s cars for some distance, and I am surprised that Thomas’s V8 has the same power delivery to my straight six. I will put this down to Alpina magic, two different engines but yet just as smooth as each other. The switch tronic felt the same, therefore apart from the obvious differences it was as if I was driving my own car.

Here are the photos of the meet

Neal, considering the condition's the photo's are as bad as a DOGS dinner mate .

Driving Neals-B3 was very much like my own B10 regarding changing gear and even the stearing felt so tight. The thing i noticed different was the actual suspention of the car. The b3 was more sporty compared to the refinement of the B10. Its strange i have never driven a B3 but yet i felt like i had straight away.I dont know if this is aN ALpina thing but they do Make an outstanding Car. I must also say the Straight-six gave of a nice burble indeed.

Being totaly different cars in there own way they are very alike if that makes sence.

I Will also say i have know ambition to purchase a B3 or swap with you Neal. SO dont be darft and ask me Again   Im over the Moon with the B10

For those of us who have been passengers in Neal's B3, that's not something I would admit to

I'm sure the issues which were apparent in Buchloe last year have been resolved now!!

No problem Kevin, I think that would be good. What about an official South East meet (but I am no good at organising these things).

There was one organised by Kevin just outside Ipswich if my memory is right and that was the first time I knew you, Neal.

Chas, since the wheel balance at Buchloe it is only noticeable between 80 and 90 mph, I however collected on Sunday 4 good and used condition genuine front wheels (an eBay purchase). I therefore now have two spare front wheels. I will get them balanced and swapped at the weekend :D . The eBay seller is also a BMW enthusiast therefore knew and understood about Alpina.

James, correct that was a good meet. Also was my first meet and only had the car for two weeks. Kevin and James did a good job – as we did not get hit by any golf balls LOL (people were playing golf opposite to the car park and the balls were landing in our section of the car park, therefore we all moved our cars).

If anyone would like a pub meet – why don’t we set a date and a meeting point (I don’t mean to tread on anyone’s toes if they are organising a meet this year. Also I don’t want to point myself organiser LOL).

ThomasV8 is stalking me. Driving on the A13 to Elite tyres. I then spotted in my rear view mirror, a crazy idiot undertaking in their B10, then the driver started to flash their headlights, therefore I moved into the second lane, but then this idiot started waving at me, I then realised that it was Thomas

We both went into Elite, where I had my two front wheels replaced and also purchased two new Michelin PS2 tyres for the rear. As we both did not have anything to do afterwards, we therefore decided to drive my car some distance on the A13 to feel the difference and it is noticeable. Driving at 70mph was smooth, I therefore am convinced that driving at higher speeds will be just as smooth - not that Thomas and I found out as I always drive up to the speed limit

Thomas wanted me to take some photos of his new tints and his Gruppe M, but I forgot to take a picture of the back of the cars therefore no picture of the back window tint – doh! I said to Thomas, if I did post them on the forum then members might think that this was a planned meet - it was a coincidence that we met today.

Guys there has been some interest with a meet therefore what will people prefer an evening meet or weekend day meet? Open to suggestions and a date either via PM or on this thread, cheers.

Provisional weekend 9 and 10 February as this is the weekend that I am available.

Due to my workload, I will not have time to find a decent meeting point or a pub, therefore if anyone is aware of any good locations please contribute.

All are welcome
