B10 3.3
B10 3.3
Hi, I am looking for some advice... I have the chance to buy either a B10 3.3 spec as follows
3.3 straight 6 engine,
Alpina body kit
18" unmarked alpina alloys with brand new tyres
BMW business stereo with 6cd changer
cruise control,
dual climate control (air con)
Alpina stiched black velour interior, immaculate and rare
matching alpina stiched matts
multifunction Alpina steering wheel with colour coded stiching
proffesional bluetooth setup and phone cradle
remote central locking with full closure
Alpina 18" spare wheel
Boot spoiler
fog lamps
fsh, mostly main dealer, then by a local Alpina specialist, due to my lack of faith with main dealers and there understanding of Alpina's
the same place has maintained the car for over 3 years, 109K miles
Or keep my 330 Ci Msport steptronic...81k miles
What will I be missing if I choose the B10..

PMJ,
What you haven't mentioned whether it is a manual or swichtronic. If this is a manual, enjoy it and have fun. The top speed I did on mine was 175mph at 6500rpm and you still have another 500rpm to play with. (The engine cut off speed is 7000rpm but in Gaydon I did over 7000rpm on 3rd gear without cut off). 0-60 about 6sec. On the road not many cars can beat it on the traffic light Grand Prix. Beside the Alpina is very rear and when the petrol head know you are there they will talk to you. I had these situations in a few times in UK and Europe.
Finally you will know all of us in the forum in future and every one is fantastic and delicated to Alpina. What else do you look for? The B10 3.3 is much better than the 330Ci.

Re: B10 3.3
Apart from folding rear seats? Not much, depending on the relative specs of the two cars in question.PMJ wrote:What will I be missing if I choose the B10..
But you will gain a lot more in terms of driving enjoyment and exclusivity
330 co v B10 3.3
THe 330ci is a steptronic and the B10 a manual, the only thing that kinda puts me off the B10 is there is no leather interior... I know it doesn't really matter...
But also the 330 has silly things like the auto wipers.auto head lights, auto diming rear veiw mirror, what come as standard kit on the B10, although I can get all the engine figures I can find what a stadard B10 is as there seems to be som many cars with so many options out there...
Thanks

Depending on your budget and yor willingness to put a little more juice in you could consider the B10 V8. I have one of the early facelift cars and it has all of the goodies, they after about 98 I think they come with TV, nav, leather, auto mirrors, Switchtronic, xenons and memory seats. I am not so sure that the 96/97 cars were so well specced.

Re: 330 co v B10 3.3
Leather may not matter to you but it will make it more difficult to sell when the time eventually comes. My 2002 B10 3.3 has auto wipers and head lights but not sure about the auto dimming rear mirrorPMJ wrote:THe 330ci is a steptronic and the B10 a manual, the only thing that kinda puts me off the B10 is there is no leather interior... Hi PMJ
Silly answer perhaps, but yes, it is, if you check it over, it is what it says it is, if it runs well, and if you like it. It is quite hard to give an accurate price on used Alpinas, especially when they are getting older. A similarly aged 540i would probably go for a fair bit less, maybe £6.5 -7k. If you think it is worth paying a premium to buy an ALPINA, then the question is how much!?
I really don't know what mine is worth, but as I don't plan to sell it any time soon, that isn't an issue for me.
Replacing pixels in the instrument pod will cost you about £1500 though, so if that is a problem and you want to fix it, bear that in mind.

Simon
