Bimmerfest - Sunday October 14th

Post by D4 » Sat Aug 11, 2007 2:02 pm

Ok.. this is what has been on previous years been held at Donington Park.
However for various reasons (1 of which I believe is that the Donington facility was sold this year) the event has been moved to the Warwickshire showgrounds in Stoneleigh Park.

Sunday 14th October 2007 is the date this year, so new venue in one of their new halls - no pillars, warm, better lighting - ahhh!

Arrangements now need to be made!

Layout of cars will need to be arranged as will the make-up of cars to be selected to attend. The intention is to have displays of cars that cover all variants and types so we want to avoid repetition wherever possible.

At Donington the number of cars planned to be displayed was around 50 but at Stoneleigh the theoretical maximum is 90. HOWEVER, theory is great but practice is often quite different! To achieve 90 cars on display cars would need them to be arranged “like a car park” which does not look too good so we will need to lose some space. In practice we think we are talking more like 75 cars that is 50% more than at Donington.

Of this number the ALPINA register has been allocated 10 spaces

The make up of the event will be as follows:

02s 5 cars
6 series 5 cars
8 series 5 cars
Convertible 5 cars
E30 5 cars
Historic 5 cars
Z 5 cars
Alpina 10 cars
M Power 10 cars

A total of 55 cars

There will also be a selection of 5 race cars which the club will source.
Regions have also been asked to source cars (15)

There is also a HUGE outside area alongside the hall and it is likely that we may have an additional display place here for cars not included in the 10 car line-up. There is also a massive secure, undercover parking area that we will probably be able to use so that other visitors can view even more BMWs.

All in all it sounds like it could be quite a good event..

So what i'm looking for is 10 cars in as good a condition as possible to put inside the hall (we can deal with an external display lineup closer to the time)

I should add that I won;t put my car on the list just yet as i'd like to allow others to get a chance to display... (though mine will be available to make up the numbers should it be need either inside or outside...)

Not a problem Bern - but I must say guys I'm a little disapointed by the lack of response for this event...

we need 10 cars in A1 condition for this show... I know they're out there... and this show (when at Donington) has always been a great day out....

so come on.... lets have some more cars step up for it...

OK I put my name down for it then this is because I did shown mine in Gaydon so I better let someone else to have a go instead. Andy if you haven't got enough car to fill the space, put mine in. Come on every body support the club and the register.

no probs Glenn

Anyone else interested in coming along.. i'm a bit surprised by the low take up on this one TBH - it's an indoor show and in the past has been a great day out...
