Looks quite difficult there were 462 built from 1980-83. 2316cc 6 cylinder based on the M60 of the same capacity. Five speed over drive manual gear box. With a limited slip diff.

Sorry not a clue where you might find one!

m20 b23 surely? The m60 is a V8

Thats what the e21 323i had and that formed the basis of the C1. As for the gearbox etc and diff, std BMW items as far as I am aware. So they'd be fairly easy to locate

The engine will be hard enough to find but relatively easy to replicate today, the diff not so if Alpina specific, and even more of a difficulty if the OP wanted the Alpina finned diff cover to complete the build/look. Here in the UK all e21 C1's would have been via TWR.

"Only small numbers of the C1 2.3 were sold outside Continental Europe, including a few brought in the UK by Tom Walkinshaw racing. At a cost of DM 38,300 in West Germany. Was the cheapest ALPINA for years. In production for 3 years between April 1980 and July 1983 at total of 462 cars"

I was pretty sure TWR built up the C1 here in the UK, could be wrong on that though.

I drove one years ago (wished I'd bought it, one of those that slipped away), back was very light, breakaway was easy, very potent and sounded really nice. But I had a 325iSE at the time which I'd bought new and this C1 was in a side street back of beyond car lot, long gone now..

There was also a Baur C1 2.3 here in the UK, now thats a rarity.
