A question to the people
A question to the people
If sytners built your Alpina but your car was supplied new by another dealer, Which dealers numberplates and stickers should the car of had when new?
Sytner or supplying dealer? Also in this case the reg is a local plate to the supplying dealer not a nottingham one. I know what I think but interested to hear views experience on this

Unless there is some legal reason, to which I'm unaware of, is it a case of 'should', or more which would you prefer? I don't believe there is a right or wrong answer.simon13 wrote:

Aren't any dealer's stickers/plates etc. just an advertisement for that dealer? In this case, Sytner would supply the vehicle to 'new dealer' with their stickers/plate, it would then be up to 'new dealer' whether they replaced with their own stickers/plate. Also depends on who registers the car etc.
Just my understanding/thoughts on the matter.

The car would of arrived from sytners to the supplying dealer un registered i think. As i've a copy of the first log book and its SMB exeter, along with an Exeter registrationDeeJayHaitch wrote:Unless there is some legal reason, to which I'm unaware of, is it a case of 'should', or more which would you prefer? My car came from Sytner in Stratford (East London) and the plates are branded Sytner City along with the Stratford postcode

Don't mean to throw a spanner in the works. Sytner may had their own plates on the car, but then the suppling dealer took them off and put their own on the car.

No, its had a private and when the private plate was taken off it was given this reg its on now. And strangley they gave it a nottingham reg!
The guy who owned my car in about 1989 must off been a car nut as he took the plate off my C2 and transfered it onto a E24 M6
The new reg if i get it will match Simon Alcorns

Also another possibility the car was either driven to the dealer via trade plates or transported, without any Sytner labels/marks.
