I assume your comment is based on recent experience of Nankangs?CaesarBob wrote:... for Sytners?

I have heard positive reviews of some of Nankang’s specialist tyres before but to my knowledge those shown in the ad are neither track or m&s tyres.
My point was more aimed at the fact there is a huge importance placed on the value of Michelin tyres as part of the overall Alpina ride and comfort package and as Metrics says, should an approved car be offered in non-OEM spec.

Agreed. I can't pass comment on Nankangs as I've never driven a car with them.E24man wrote:Ahh,Metrics wrote:Should an approved used Alpina be sold on non OEM tyres? In my opinion, no.
That's a different question to whether Nankangs are any good...
But selling an aaproved used Alpina with a core part of it's unique and finely tuned set up so far from OE is very odd, in my humble opinion.
We all know the approach taken by Buchloe on the chassis set up, and the tyres are a big part of this.

I have experienced Nankangs within the last few years on a couple of cars, neither of which could be considered performance cars, and for rush hour commuting and weekend shopping trips they were perfectly capable.Charles wrote:I assume your comment is based on recent experience of Nankangs?CaesarBob wrote:... for Sytners?

That said, they are still a budget/mid-range tyre manufacturer and at odds with the Alpina brand which has such established relations with Michelin, and especially on a used car when being resold through the UK concessionaire.

Agreed, especially with that price tag and supplied by Sytners.Metrics wrote:Should an approved used Alpina be sold on non OEM tyres? In my opinion, no.
Not surprised though as when I purchased my current E92 D3BT from them, Sytner were unbelievably shoddy with their AUC car prep.
