B6 2.8 /1 parts

Post by Sechserreihe » Wed Sep 12, 2018 6:06 pm

Hi all,

New to the site and a new Alpina owner. Although familiar with BMWs, I've got a '72 2002 and a '78 635CSi Euro spec model, I finally landed an Alpina!

Car sat for a long time and has some rubber component issues under the hood. I'm in need of an intake boot that connects the Air Flow Meter to the intake manifold. This part has Alpina stamped on it and is therefore hard to find NOS or in good used condition.

Can anyone out there help out?

Also have some more diagnosing to do but I'm thinking my Alpina ECU that controls the injection is acting up. Car stops running (rough due to the air leaks from the bad rubber boot) after about 5-7 seconds. Timing light confirms that igniton spark cuts out at that time. I'm looking at Crankshaft position senor and other things but wanted to see if anyone has a good computer Alpina part number 1210118 SS2

Thanks,

Mark

Hi , welcome to the register
Is this an e30 car ?, if so it’s a very rare model and will have a m30 big 6 engine, I’m assuming you have tried alpina for the rubber boot , the chances of finding one are small I’d think.
Maybe a 3.5 b6 will have the same hose or the original bmw 5 series can be modified to fit, hopefully someone with more knowledge can help you , good luck

Ah, yes, it's an '85 E30 B6 2.8/1. I've located a new one through KSK Distributing but at $238 I will check to see if one from an M30 BMW will work even with a slight mod if necessary.

Thanks,
Mark

That’s good ,I had the Hartge version a few years ago , that made 210 bhp I’d imagine the alpina will be similar if not a bit more , it was a lot of fun in a (dry)straight line !,lethal if wet

I've contacted Alpina for a parts manual to the car and they're sending out out. The intake hose is still available but I'm also needing an Alpina specific Crankshaft Position Sensor. Alpina part number is 12 10 039.
These are no longer available. Anyone out there happen to know what would work as well? The BMW counterpart does not. They are not the same. I believe Alpina used a hall sensor.

Thank you,

Mark
