Sab, your message was extremely helpful. It’s nice to hear someone has tried and got some feedback on the ride afterwards. I couldn’t find any details on someone else who had tried it.

Pretty sure Charles fitted non oem for a while and now has reverted back to Alpina

Thanks for all the help and inputs!
I appreciate that it’s really a matter of looking into the crystal ball as you say.
I was just struggling with the fact that even after contacting Sachs with the part number from my shocks, they still couldn’t help.

Also a couple hundred pound extra for genuine is reasonable but over £1000 seemed a bit steap for me as I’m a tight arse😅

I’ll just shut up and stop being tight now haha

Thanks all

£1000 is a lot, but unfortunately Alpina have us over a barrel. At the end of the day they are a business and it can't be easy for them to survive given how low the volumes are.

Alpina are also very effective at controlling the supply chain - it's nay on impossible to go to the supplier like Sachs/Bilstein/Eibach/Brembo etc and request that part outside of Alpina.

This therefore means ordering from Alpina directly via BMW UK. Sadly for us, BMW UK levy a large % on the cost putting us at further financial disadvantage. Te only way to avoid this is to order via Europe, eg. through FMW Tuning.

Good luck with it all.

No doubt this has been discussed before but what would the price be if one went to Buchloe and ordered the parts directly at the factory? If buying a full suspension set of springs and shocks, would it cost in to have a holiday at the same time? Just an idea :)

I have managed to order some genuine shocks from fmw tuning at a cost of £1350 delivered. Hopefully everything will be ok when they arrive although I’ve heard Good things.

I’ll put the links in for anyone else.

I've ordered quite a few bits and pieces from FMW and it all went well with quick delivery.
Don't forget to let everyone know the part numbers when they arrive!! 8)

Received and now fitted my new shocks from FMW. All seems great.
Build number 102.
Have old shocks still and will post some pics.
Anyone else requiring help, let me know and I will try my best to help.

Having trouble uploading pictures at the moment but will keep trying.
