D3 Bi-Turbo Touring (E91)

Post by HowieD5 » Wed May 22, 2019 11:57 am

Hi, I'm selling my much cherished 2010 D3 Touring/no. 89 (having just bought an F11 D5 Touring: the family is growing fast!).
I've owned the car 2.5 years, it was also cherished by the previous (lady) owner who only did 23,800 miles in the 1st 6 years and the current mileage is 64,500 with a service history, past MOT's, Michelins all-round etc. I'm the second owner, we drove across Europe in it last year and it's much admired, half leather seats and a multi-function steering wheel, Manual 6 speed gearbox, aircon, Titanic metallic silver paint. The torque is very impressive and on a run it returns very good fuel economy.
I intend placing an ad in Autotrader (assume that's the best?) this weekend, but would prefer if it went to an enthusiast, hence please feel free to get in contact if there's any interest on here. I'm thinking around £13,250 and can attach photos (once I've worked out how to attach them!).
Cheers
Howard

Good Morning Howard,

Congratulations on your new purchase. Was your D5 Touring the recent car for sale at Sytner Nottingham? I am currently in the market for a D5 touring but unable to find the right spec, getting that annoyed i may import one from Europe! Will you be posting any photos of your new D5 touring, would be lovely to see it.

I've never seen a E91 D3 BiTurbo in Titanium Silver, so keen to see some pics.

They are easy to upload: select Post Reply, then below the dialogue box, select the Attachments tab, then Add files, select from directory and then Place Inline

If it helps, there aren't currently many other E91 D3 BiTurbos for sale. The only one I've seen is this one:

D3 BITURBO TOURING [E91] #044 Bluewater/Black Dakota Leather w Alcantara; 2009_09; £11.0k; 101k; Trade

Interesting that your's is a 10-plate given it's build number. All the other 10-plates I've seen are in the range of #150-220.

Good luck with the sale.

Thanks for all the helpful advice. I think it is quite rare, it took me 2 years persuading the previous owner to sell it. I'll have a go with the photos later. Hopefully the mileage will help with a sale and it's quite unusual Alpina Alloys (4 spoke type)

Thanks for the response, Christian. Yes, I picked up the F11 from Sytner last Thursday. I bought it unseen, aware of its rarity, but appreciate the spec may not have been to your liking. The Oyster interior is actually better in the flesh, than via a photo and the car is immaculate: I suspect the original owner was an enthusiast. I'm still unsure how many F11's there are, possibly 16 or 17 in the Uk.
Sytner ultimately bid me up above the asking price, but I thought it was worth it and in fairness they resprayed the rear bumper, which had a small scratch apparently. The first time I saw it was after I'd paid for it, so it was nerve wracking.
I genuinely feel sad about selling the D3, which I also love, but it really is a squeeze with 3 kids (incl 2 teenage boys): I'm still using it whilst I get used to the larger D5, they are very different cars, both with their own attributes.

Thank you for Responding Howard. Are you local to Nottingham? I am yet to find any fellow enthusiasts in my local area.

I hope Gary looked after you, he has been a diamond with me recently in my search, still to no avail, but maybe i am being too picky with my colour/spec? Went down to view the D5 you have purchased, loved the car, I just have this dream spec in mind (after seeing a carbon black on the M1 a few years ago which made my mind up) and with my current F11 meeting that spec but not being an Alpina, i was not in the mind to pull the trigger. We are looking at moving abroad to Portugal, so maybe a European car may be on the cards and doable? 2 kids on the cards for me, one due to arrive on a 69 plate and then the other is now 4 so 5 series size is a must at the moment for me also, so feel your pain. What was the story with the price increases? I noticed it went from £28k to £30k then to £32k? Was wondering why!

Look forward to seeing the photos of the D5 later!

I'm not actually local, I live in North Wales.
I didn't deal with Gary, initially it was Adrian. I didn't see it at £28.5k, but tried haggling at £30k when the Autotrader advert went live, said I'd buy it and was awaiting a call back re. placing a deposit, then Adrian said it was sold at £32k, the revised price! My wife re-entered discussions a few days later with Raz, who was very good; and Raz luckily called about a week later, as the original deal fell. It wasn't easy, but I've got the car I've always wanted.
Cheers

Plus I think the price hike reflected the high level of calls and interest in the car

You're a fountain of knowledge: are the production numbers listed on the Register just for UK RHD Alpinas please (ie is there a separate register for worldwide figures, or is this list the total inclusive figure)? I always get a bit confused regarding the numbers that are actually out there.

Thanks

As far as i am aware, the number on the register are just those that have registered that they are an owner of that type of vehicle on here. As you can see there are some that are blank saying be the first to register as an owner on here.

Sorry, I saw a table on the register a whileback, listing all the stats for Alpinas, both per year and per model, example there's say 69 D3 Bi-turbo Tourings, 12 say built in 2010: would this mean 69 in total or just RHD in the UK?

That is the total in the UK, the total worldwide production number is in the far right hand column but it doesn’t break it down to just the e9x series unfortunately. HTH.

Edited due to crappy auto correct!
