Detailed? Im enjoying driving it too much to detail the car! I am pretty shocked at fuel consumption though. I get around 20 - 25 mpg max.
Next week looks like better weather, I will clean her up then. Photos to be provided!!

That sounds right using it around town stop start etc. Out on A and B roads you should get around 30 and possibly a tad more going sensibly on a motorwayRav wrote:Detailed? Glad you are liking the car, I was the same when I first got mine and that feeling is still there 3 years on
Re fan, they are pretty quiet and you have to listen hard to hear it kick in, so as long as the needle is staying put, no need to worry. Also, they do get pretty hot! Even the wings get too hot to the touch sometimes in the hot sun with the engine running!
Re TV, when I got mine it had been converted to digital and works fine, although never really used it much!! I will see if there is any paper work in my folder to see who did it, if there is I will let you know, but it is worth doing even just to keep it all working
Re Sat nav discs, if they are DVD, you need to get a specific one, I bought a cheapy off ebay and it didn't work, then I bought a cheapy "high" version and it work perfectly first go. Also, if it hasn't been done, there is an upgrade of the whole system, also on a disc and so simple to do, it shows a nice blue BMW picture when you first get in the car, nicer that the original imo
Happy motoring!!

Your reply put my mind at ease. I took the car to Newbury today. Plenty of power to overtake on the A4!
Please could you have a look for any paper work for when your car was converted from analogue to digital TV. I would be interested to see what was replaced.
The sat nav discs are DVDs and i have seen the "high" version on ebay for around £12. I have already had the system upgrade installed - it shows a BMW logo on first start up. I would prefer a Alpina logo though!!
Many thanks for putting my mind at ease!

Ive been enjoying the car. Gave her a clean and added some new badges.
The wheels had been refurbished prior to me buying the car. The laquer was too thick and the Apina wheel centres wouldnt fit. I bought a goblet sandning mop - drill mounted and carefully took the laquer down.
Result - 4 nicely fitting wheel centers.

Interior is perfect with only some minor marks on the centre console which i will leather dye in a couple of weeks. The Alpina floor mats came up really well.
Can anyone recommend a good method of reviving the green and blue alpina stitching on the steering wheel?
I also bought OE navigation dvd and this didn't work. I understand that the common fault is that the laser wears out. I have found a replacement part for £20 and will attempt this over the next few weeks.
The car is leaking fluids!! I beleive that it might be PAS. I have her booked into my local garage for inspection this coming tuesday. Fingers crossed its an easy fix.

Patience and gentle cleaning will get it up like new. Don't be aggressive, the old leather will damage easily if not carefully done.

Thanks Metrics. I will give that a go and post results.
I made a fool of myself today. The sunroof would go back and forward but not tilt, so i took it apart and the mechanism down. applied voltages using a power pack etc.
My 15 year old daughter cam out and asked what i was doing. I told her and she told me that the button presses inwards as well as sliding forward and backwards.
Argh!!!!

Reminds of the first time I clean d my Subaru Outback. After I had finished I noticed the sidelights stayed on after I locked the car. After lots of head scratching and checking of light switches I decided I had to remove the lighting fuses to ensure I didn’t get a flat battery.
After some frantic googling later I discovered the park light switch is on top of the steering column but looked like the hazard warning light switch, so I must have knocked it on whilst cleaning the interior. Flicked the switch and the lights duly turned off.
