Well, who can blame the man to keep reducing the price: ultimately, it’s a 10 year old premium car of a brand that is hardly known, he runs a business and cars that sit for months and months aren’t going to help anyone’s cash flow.

Someone asked me the other day, how many e92 RHD m3 were actually produced, versus the known b3 BiTurbos.

According to http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=50, it’s a staggering number...
from 05/2007 through 06/2013 (includes 113 M3 GTS)
WD92 & KG92 (ECE-spec M3 coupe, RHD),: 9,518

Versus the known 51 RHD e92 B3 BiTurbos.

The Grand Tour will test the new B5 touring I gather, which will do the brand some good towards having some recognition with the general public. Whilst the mainstream magazines like Autocar etc have tested the brand, the fact is that any punter who won 15k on a horse or who’s granny died will most likely search and go for an “Em Free, innit.”

Looking at the average time it takes to sell a second hand Alpina in the U.K. ( 6 months plus, looking at the Gumtree/EBay/autotrader/ Pistonheads/ Facebook Alpina buy and sell site?), I’d suggest that any Alpina forum members just have to be patient: if the seller keeps reducing the price with £500 a week, it’ll soon be cheaper than the infamous green e36 B3!

Either way, I hope it goes to a good home.

Cheers,

Bert

A fine car and one worth doing some bodywork resto on, as the rest of it is so good.
Thanks Asim, that certainly fills in the big history gap and it's impressive to see the expenditure. I hadn't realised it had been languishing since Sep'17 though. Someone needs to save it soon, but makes me think the £6.5k price is definitely too high.

CB, I suspect the bodywork factor is scaring off buyers. Ultimately it's as you suggest - the price needs to give a bit and the right owner come along to invest the time and money.

Not really, old boy: The first dealer bought it through an auction of the finance company ( the “repo agent” was merely the guy that collected it from Sytners Nottingham) and it now is at a second dealer, offering warranty, HPI check and piece of mind etc.

Hope these facts will clarify the situation.

Kind regards,

Bert

It was poor choice of wording, but Kingfisher did describe themselves as being "specialists in the sale of recovered assets", so i was assuming they may have also been involved in it's recovery too.

Hi guys,
I am Peter from Kingfisher, we purchased the car from auction without much in the way of documentation on a bit of a whim a few months back, managed to make contact with Bert who was incredibly helpful sending us all the docs, spare keys etc, the history file is yellow pages thick, chronologically filed from PDI inspection to last tyre change. Originally I had been half tempted to keep it for myself having been somewhat shocked by the high quality of the car upon arrival. It has now been traded to another dealer that in all honesty, is more appropriate to the cars specialist nature.

The car is in incredible shape considering the mileage, feels very tight and crisp with only a bit of light stonechip road rash on the front end cosmetically.

And in typical, sods law fashion, having not had a call since first advertised, I have had 2 retail enquiries this morning from expired adverts :(

I tried really hard to view this car prior to it going to auction as Bertroex was incredibly helpful and managed to get me a sneak preview and I was only a few miles away with work Sadly my day went pear shaped and I couldn't make the window to view otherwise it would probably have been sat on my drive as we speak.
With the work already completed on the car and the history file although up on miles it will make the next owner a very happy person
