Proud owner of my first Alpina.

Hi everyone.

I have just joined the forum so would like to introduce myself and my new car I purchased just the other day which will be delivered tomorrow. So it’s a 1988 Sytner Alpina E28 B10 3.5 number 5/548 in Lachs silver. Some of you may have seen it for sale recently on eBay.

I have been into BMW’s for the last 15 years and have had few over that time, however this is my first Alpina and the oldest car I’ve owned! The car does need some work, however I plan to bring the car back to it’s former glory over the next 4 years or so and make it as clean as possible over that time.

So the first job is a complete chassis overhaul. I do realise I can just google lots of the questions I will have for you guys over the coming months BUT I would much rather get info from like minded enthusiasts who have first hand experience with these cars.

First off I would like info On what suspension shocks and springs are used on these cars and where’s the best place to purchase from?

I will make a resto thread to update as the restoration progresses with pics and info.

Thanks in advance

Hiya and welcome to the forum, nice choice of wheels.

I believe they would have Bilstein dampers and Eibach springs/ARB's

If so, Bilstein UK have a renovation service which I used on my B8 dampers, worked out just under 1/2 price than a new set from Buchloe.

Look forward to seeing some more fotos

Guys thank you for the welcome.

I will contact Bilstein after Christmas is out of the way however these things look like they have been sitting at the bottom of the North Sea for the last 10 years!!! so I’ll weigh my options up on a new set too. I am stuck trying to find Eibach springs as they don’t list anything for the E28 earliest they list from is the E34, H&R list for the E28, however I would like to stay as original as possible if possible. Company’s like Fritzs bits and Ireland engineering look to do some quality parts for these cars.

I will get some pics up for you all after Xmas

Anyway, a merry Christmas to all and enjoy your holidays
