Highest price yet for a V8S
Dealer in cloud cuckoo land methinks.
Can't even get the production numbers correct no one knows how many of the 88 for the Japanese market were actually produced.
Also fitted with a very naff after market Sat Nav

Alpina’s do seem to attract some crazy prices, more so than most manufacturers it seems. I put it down to the dealer putting the rarity of these cars as a huge excuse for bumping the asking price up.
I have always thought that rarity doesn’t always guarantee a high value in respect of the majority of our cars. Maybe I was wrong 🤔

Its price reflects its low mileage as well as its rarity. The advert is also stating no accident damage, another price add-on factor. Basically if you don't ask you don't get.
Everything is collectible that isn't made any more as there is a defined quantity on the market. Desirability then dictates price, which is why there are Ferrari owners that play the game well who can run a car for two years for next to nothing, so long as they can invest the original capital. E39 owners will need to be more patient for them to make big money regardless of condition / mileage but rest assured the day will come. Remember I bought my B10 3.3 Touring and sold it over 2 years later for £250 less than the £11,000 I had paid for it and I had an alternator and rear brakes as the only costs aside from petrol, oil and insurance. The guy that bought it was a crew member on a tanker so I assume he's kept the miles down as well as I did so he's probably capable of making on it.

Is it overpriced?
As a LHD car, the market is significantly larger and given mileage and condition it’s well priced given the European pricing of such vehicles.
Agree on the Nav unit though. Also shame the interior spec is pretty basic. Extended leather is a must on a V8S IMHO.

The problem with Japanese imports is that they are hard to prove that the mileage is genuine and many cars seem to get a haircut enroute to Europe! This has been discussed with the B7 for sale forever at Kahn’s, another low mileage Japanese import.

A collectable LHD car for sale here attracts a big market. I cannot speak on the value of these Japanese imports, but a discerning buyer will always buy with eyes wide open and on the merits, condition and provenance of the example.

E39 B10 V8S #114 (31/88 Nicole Edition)
Interesting to note this one was still floating around for sale in the Netherlands up to at least Mar-21.
It appears to've had a standard nav screen re-fitted.
