Alpina numbering system?

Post by PhillV8S » Sat Oct 21, 2017 6:12 pm

Can someone enlighten me as to how the numbering system Alpina use.
Mine is number 100 which I thought would be spread across the B6s coupe and cabriolet models but looking at the register (as you do) I see numbers of 170+. So do they number according to the cars with a certain engine? So for my car it would include the B5s, B6s coupe and cabriolet?[/code]

It seems to vary as to whether they start again with an 'S' model or continue from the last non-'S' model. In the case of E60 B5/B5S and B6/B6S models they continued the numbering through both models so the B6S convertible started at #081.

My E39 B10 3.2(saloon) is number 64 so you can imagine my shock when I saw several years back an E39 B10 3.2(touring) with the same number. I contacted Alpina and they said both where fine.
