Things I don't like about my B6 ...
Will add to the list if anything comes to mind. That these are really nits just shows how great the car is ...
1- The iDrive lets you move around on the map by touching the top surface of the controller. However, that means that ANYTIME YOU BRUSH THE TOP OF THE CONTROLLER you enter that mode. This happens accidentally a lot. For example, I'll reach over to touch the wife's hand/leg and, bam, I'm in "map-explorer" mode.
EDIT: This can be disabled through Settings - and without disabling the writing function.
2- Can't put the side sunshades up from the front seat. I can operate the rear one from front and back, but the side ones only from the back. I know they shade the rear windows, but it's not unreasonable that the driver might want to put them up on a hot day.
3- No button on the rear hatch to close/lock. I have to close it manually. I know, horrors. Not really a problem, but my loaner, a bottom level X3, had that function.
4- This one is more serious: Sport+ disables all traction controls. I'd like to stiffen it up a bit (esp steering) without giving up the safety goodies.

OK, so you are looking for this reply....Brooke wrote:

Really, there is more, but it's not coming to me right now. Will edit ...
Regardless, it's going to be a rather inconsequential list of complaints.
Why are you complaining? You were already on an "explorer" mode...the poor button of your ALPINA Bsex is just confirming that....
And the name is Marie-Noëlle or nick name MNL, NOT Marie or Noëlle ALONE; unless if you are looking for someone else and not me!!!

I've read about the coding , and someone pasted the code details in an earlier thread...but could you expand on what you mean by the latter? Can I do this myself without dealer involvement? Is it a setting in the iDrive?PerryGunn wrote:10 mins coding lets you set it to off by default - alternatively you can set it so it remembers the on/off state between usesBurnham wrote:Yup, this annoys me too...but not as much as forgetting to hit the stop-start button when I get in.

I have a B6 Gran Coupe on order that is scheduled to be built this month. When I test drove an M6 Gran Coupe the dealer told me that the auto stop/start feature could be turned off permanently with the button on the dash and would not revert to on when the engine was restarted. Is this not the case with the B6?
It's not in iDrive, for an F-series car, you need an ENET cable and a copy of E-Sys & PSDzData that are valid for the I-Step/I-Level of the car (typically, the latest version of each will be fine)Burnham wrote:I've read about the coding , and someone pasted the code details in an earlier thread...but could you expand on what you mean by the latter? I haven't explicitly checked the F12/F13 chassis but, as an example, for the F10 & F25, the auto stop/start functionality resides in the CAS module and enabling auto stop/start memory retention of last used state would involve changing the following
CAS Module -> 3000 --> TC_MSA_MEMORY ---> aktiv (default:nicht_aktiv)
Alternatively, setting auto stop/start to always start in the off state and require manually activating via the button would involve setting the following
CAS Module -> 3000 --> TC_MSA_DEFAULT_OFF ---> aktiv (default:nicht_aktiv)
The function locations / module names can change from chassis to chassis (e.g. for the F30 chassis, the above settings reside in the FEM_BODY module), but cheat sheets are freely available for most models. Do a bit of googling on BMW coding and you should find all the info you need
