Roadster S values

Post by Wobblewing » Mon Mar 20, 2017 12:26 am

Hi,

I own Roadster S lux #339... have had it for a few years now and use it daily (still love it!). I'm noticing that the value of these cars are starting to increase and wonder what people's views are on this car and its longer term value? I could potentially have a real classic on my hands here worth some serious money in a few years?

What do you think?

I'm wondering if I should stop using it as my daily to preserve it :-)

Hi Andy

I have recently sold my Roadster S, which after six years and 11K miles I sold for £750.00 more than I paid for it, however I do wonder if the cost of simply storing a car correctly and keeping it serviced in the hopes of an increase in value is a little pointless as the annual costs offset any gain in value.
I think that the RS will see a modest rise in value over the next few years but although I personally would prefer it over a Z4 m I think that is where the bigger price gains are likely to be.
Just my opinion for what it is worth.

I drive my B3S every day, have done so for 14 years and 294k miles and the value remains close to lower mileage siblings because of its rarity and history.

In my book, ALPINAs are for driving and storing it away in the hope that it might appreciate in value is a monumental waste of a glorious piece of machinery.

Cheers fellas

I am also in the camp of driving rather than storing it, but it's just had me wondering recently! When I see what happened to the Z1, these roadsters could become similarly rare.

I think I'll carry on driving it!

294K miles is going some ... have you had any major rebuilds in that time?

I've just this week heard of a Roadster S thats been stored away (badly) and the owners recent attempt to revive it has failed. Although in good visual condition, it's been written off by the insurers due to water ingress.

I dont know the build number as yet, but that's one more of the 167 available gone anyway. The less available, surely the higher the value ?

There is also talk that big main dealers are buying Z4M's at the moment and raising the values.

I am driving the motoring equivalent of Trigger's Broom!

Engine rebuild @ 180k
Gearbox rebuild @ 190k
New head @ 255k
Second gearbox rebuild (due to cracked F drum) @ 284k

Good thing I love the car more than my children

I wonder how many of the 167 are actually still around anyway?

Could well be much less... I'd imagine one or two may have been wrapped around trees?

Is it definitely #259 Perry. Our mutual friend couldn't confirm the # and I think #259 is Sterling and not Titanium ??

That was the number he gave me for it when he first found out about it back in November...

I noticed the colour discrepancy when he said he was told it was silver but I can understand how an owner less anal than us, could describe a Sterling Grey car as 'silver'

Sytner have a 04 plate on sale at £23.5k at the moment. That's more than I paid for mine from them 8 years ago.
But the Z4M's and coupe are increasing more.

Yes that seems a bit steep to me!
but if the Roadsters are going for that, I'm not complaining!
