Letter from Gary Re next Sytner meet
Just received the e-letter below from Gary re next Sytner meeting
A warm welcome to our 2016 ALPINA e-newsletter - I trust you have all had a wonderful Summer and have enjoyed some memorable road trips in your ALPINA - whether your car be new, new to you, or an appreciating classic!
I joined ALPINA in August 2015, so have completed my first year with this most exclusive Brand - it is often said that time goes more quickly as you get older, but this last year has passed almost in a blur, though not too fast to prevent me from recalling some noticeable highlights!
Firstly, throughout the year I’ve had the opportunity to forge new relationships with many existing ALPINA customers and naturally many customers new to the brand. I never tire of meeting people passionate about ALPINA cars, so if you have owned ALPINAs for many years and we haven’t spoken or met yet, don’t hesitate to pick up the phone or call in if you are in Nottingham….the coffee machine never runs out!
In October 2015, in conjunction with the ALPINA Register of the BMW Car Club, we held an ALPINA enthusiasts meeting at the home of ALPINA GB here at Sytner Nottingham to celebrate ALPINA’s 50th Anniversary. The final attendance at the get-together was a remarkable 78 cars, which was an all-time record for the ALPINA Register and all concerned had a truly terrific day.
We’re planning - and really looking forward to! – our next event to be in the Spring of next year…..which, at the rate that this year seems to have flown by will be upon us a lot sooner than you’d think! As the saying goes ‘watch this space’ and we’ll communicate details in the new year.
If you haven’t been to an ALPINA meet before, there will be a number of activities throughout the day including a BBQ and refreshments, but ostensibly it’s an opportunity for you to meet like-minded fellow ALPINA owners. If you are a member of the ALPINA Register, you will no doubt see the post on the internet forum to confirm your attendance. If you aren’t yet a member, you will be more than welcome and we look forward to meeting you and admiring your ALPINA.
To commemorate ALPINA’s 50th Anniversary year, the manufacturer announced very limited and exclusive ‘Edition 50’ versions of the B5 and B6. For the UK, we managed to secure two rare B5’s and an even rarer B6 Biturbo Coupe, all of which have now been delivered to their very proud owners. These genuine 200MPH+, 600BHP supercars were guaranteed future classic status as soon as they left the Showroom!
Also in October last year, I was fortunate enough to visit the ALPINA factory in Buchloe. The tour was fascinating and what came through loud and clear from my colleagues in Germany is their consummate attention to detail and commitment to the pinnacle of absolute engineering excellence. I was also delighted to be invited to the wine cellar underneath the factory. If you didn’t already know, the founder of ALPINA, Burkard Bovensiepen has a lifelong passion (and very successful business) dealing in fine wines with over 2 million bottles of various vintages laid down in local warehousing. Burkard certainly has diverse business interests and a wonderful understanding of the very finest things in life – and this shines through in the exclusive automobiles his company has been responsible for creating over the last half-century!
In June 2016, we attended our major UK event of the year - the Goodwood Festival of Speed. If you have never been, but always promised yourself, put it in your diary now! I can guarantee you’ll have a great time. Although we endured some appalling weather this year, the festival was every bit as good as you will have imagined or read about. Goodwood was also the UK launch and unveiling of ALPINA’s flagship car, the fabulous ALPINA B7 Biturbo. I’ve now driven the car over in Germany and it was a most memorable and privileged experience….what a car!
Looking forwards to 2017, we at ALPINA eagerly look forward to the ‘LCI’ (manufacturer speak for facelift) of the D4 and B4 Convertible and Coupe. Much later next year we are anticipating perhaps seeing the D5 and B5 version of the hotly anticipated all-new BMW 5 series. Both the ALPINA 4 and 5 series will be the subject of serious scrutiny and intense comparison by the Motoring Press - and if the current models are anything to go by, will no doubt win five star road tests, so watch this space…
I genuinely hope as many of you as possible will be able to make the meeting in Spring 2017 and I’ll look forward to making new friends and renewing old acquaintances.
Happy ALPINA motoring!

sytner meet 2017 now
It will be interesting to see exactly when this is and what is planned. I would like to encourage some of our fellow ALPINA owners from the continent to come over. The exchange rate is move favourable, the weather hopefully will be ok and perhaps this could be extended into something as an addition to just a one day event.
I should be happy to look at that after consultation with others if anyone thinks there is merit in it?

I hope so as I hope to be there. We are down to one BMW now and that could never even pass as an Alpina rep as it's a 5 Series GTsimon13 wrote:poor people allowed too?

Re: sytner meet 2017 now
Good idea Norman, although having been to a lot of European Alpina meetings over the years, there does not seem to be any interest in coming over to the UK.Norrie wrote: I would like to encourage some of our fellow ALPINA owners from the continent to come over.
I have tried persuading our European cousins to no avail, but as you say, make it in to a weekend event and you might get some interest.
Sytner wouldn't want us lot for 2 days , so an extra day would have to be filled somehow.
