Got dark so no pics yet, I will take some hopefully when I get the last pipe properly polished.... run out of battery power as well.

Basically a cordless drill with lots of different attachments, sort of got the idea from my Cayenne GTS, as the rear pipes looked so clean when I picked it up it could only have been done with a drill or something like it, they are black as the ace of spades now.

Not been around here much lately. I'm still in the B5 and still absolutely love it. I was hoping to go to Goodwood FoS this year but it clashed with a family commitment. I'm at Silverstone this week but working not playing :-( Hoping to get to Vee-power Sunday breakfast club if nothing else this year.

Recently had a bit of a rumble from the rear so I took it to Vines in Guildford and it turned out to be the offside wheel bearing which they replaced under warranty (worth its weight in gold)! Much quieter now :D

Also treated myself to a personalised number plate which IMO looks nicer than the horrible 7 character plates we're stuck with on recent cars:

Hope you're all enjoying the summer and your Alpinas!

Got my car back from Sytners today after a punishing 12 weeks of Alpina parts ordering nightmares. But all good now and had LOTS of nice expensive jobs done on the house so hopefully all good for the future.
I am looking forward to just enjoying the car now, it even got a request from a random guy at the petrol station for a few pics so the old girl can still turn heads.
As an aside I noticed I had the dreaded photobucket image pop up for my avatar so have spent the last hour sorting a new host site (images shack) and configuring the URL to an acceptable format for this forum.

E30 is responding well the treatment, a massive 32 miles on new engine!

Brakes were shocking and i've changed the master cylinder and adjusted the linkage bar, bleed them up for the 3rd time and now it stops to something how it should. But discs and pads need more milege to bed in

Sorting niggles, like cruise control working today, adjusted up the handbrake. Have a small PAS leak and coolant one i'm trying to trace but its all part and parcel of it. It seems to drive better every time i use it, starting to feel like a car and one thats ready for an MOT!

Bought this tool to track down why my Tyre Pressure Warning has become inactive. Turns out both rear in wheel sensors are dead! My wheels use X5 sensors.

This could end in tears...

Post by PhillV8S » Sat Aug 05, 2017 8:18 pm

Finally took the plunge and got myself a DA polisher. Watched lots of YouTube vids so fingers crossed I won't completely destroy my paintwork!

Just waxed today and very happy with the results.

Well done!

You'll be fine, its very difficult to damage paintwork using a DA, just make sure you use a decent pad conditioner when using it.

Took the plunge and stripped the dash out to replace the blower fan. Not as bad as I thought and the old blower was pretty much seized, tried the new one once fiitted and it spins like it should 😊

Just got to put the car back together now :(

About 3 hours to strip although you don't really have to remove the screen and lower dash, I don't rush either so a more competent person would most likely be quicker. As I'm trying to retrofit the RDC tyre monitoring I decided it made sense.

The job's quite straight forward except for removing the vents in front of the blower which are a real pain.
