Duxford Imperial War Museum 1st may 16 - Sunday Spring meet

Post by Norrie » Tue Jan 19, 2016 6:04 pm

The BMWCCGB is holding the spring meet at the IWM Duxford Cambs on 1st May 16. I know a number of Alpina owners often attend and park in a group together. Price includes entry to Museum etc. Pay on the day adult 10 pounds and Children 5 pounds.

Entry via the gate past the old officers mess, do not use public car parking. They have reserved 300 space for the Club and other BMW owners. If you are going please just put your name down, you do not need to be a BMWCCGB member to attend. Just have a BMW to park there which is preferred to be an Alpina, but not a mandate.

The chap from BMWCCGB who is organising this event, said if Alpina owners wish to park together that is ok with them. He requested that people tell the marshal that they have an Alpina and want to park there. Apart from those who have posted on here I have no clue how many Alpina owners might attend.

So is this a car club event or the classic car show thats held annually? Only reason I ask is its not on the events page?

Apologies this is the Duxford Annual Spring Show, the BMWCCGB have been allocated 300 places by the organisers. If people wish to park with the BMWCCGB group, which is often sub divided into Alpina, M, 7 series etc they can. He is simply requesting that anyone who wishes to join he is notified, then will then allocate that person's vehicle to one of the 300.

On the day if anyone wishes to park with any specific group by vehicle type or group of friends there is no issue.

If the number of people applying exceeds 300 cars he can ask Duxford for more space. I guess they are hoping at as 2016 is 100 years of BMW they might get a larger attendance.

I know that a number of people are coming from the midlands and then going to do a special parade at Donington on Easter Monday with the BMWCCGB.

If he has the persons email address he will email back and confirm they have a space or more if they are bringing more cars. I said I would post it on here and see if anyone was interested and try and pick up any attending that he did not know about. Those that have already posted he has details and some people have contacted me directly. If you want to PM your email address it will only be used for confirmation purposes.

The Club are doing this at the request of Duxford I believe, this also might help with queues or delay in getting in if they have numbers.

Carl, I am not too sure what I am up to the night before as yet undecided if to go to Donington the Saturday. If I do then guess will stay somewhere in between, if not probably the night before.

Looking forward to seeing a few of you tomorrow. I will be harassing you for photos of your cars :)

I will be in a silver 730d SE (F01) on the 7 Series Register stand probably parked next to a 535d GT (Mrs V8's car).

My car will have show plates on with V12 EGO (my forum handle on the 7 Series forum) in case anyone wants to say hello.

James
